The votes are out and counted. A majority of Dell Technologies employees (120,000) voted/informed that they will not accept the “offer” to return back to office with consequences: no salary raises, no promotions, etc (see video). This is another impact of post-Covid issues, challenges. There’s a mindset chosing “better life balance” vs “professional growth” is the way to go. You? Would you accept, in a classic sense, staying “as is” for many years and not grow as a professional and financially “just” to stay and work from home?…. Recruiters-help me understand what’s been going on this week: 1) I’ve had two instances where I opened my email to the same job, but from two different recruiters from the same company. Is there some performance incentive for largest number of emails sent to prospective candidates that pays out? Does the seconds earlier time stamp from co-worker 1 negate the email from co-worker 2? 2) Why, why, why do these same exact recruiters even bother with someone who clearly has “remote” and current city in profile for on-site or hybrid locations? To top it off, these locations are either in the most expensive cities in US, or they’re in states that are hostile towards women. This, from today “Please submit women diversified profiles for this role.” Dear readers, the job is in TX. And while personally, I no longer worry about maternity care, you can bet I don’t want my daughters or DIL to set foot in that state. 3) And last, what the heck do they mean by “urgent”? For what? For whom? Certainly not me. Anyway, perhaps the upside is that since I’ve been getting more of such emails lately, tech jobs are opening up and my “looking for work” friends will find a good job. 🤞🏻
