Some of you may know I'm a mad keen Formula 1 fan. I stumbled across this today, and felt it resonated closely with a lot of what I do. The Williams F1 Team’s struggle with outdated systems is a stark reminder: Holding onto the past can cripple your future. They embarked on a technological overhaul not for the sake of it, but to survive in the fiercely competitive world of F1 racing. This isn’t just about a racing team; it’s about every small business owner looking to make their mark. Your team’s energy and creativity are your most valuable assets. When bogged down by inadequate systems, their ability to innovate and push boundaries diminishes. Especially if you too are stuck using Excel to run your business! This scenario underscores a critical lesson for small business owners. The efficiency of your operations directly impacts your team’s ability to perform and innovate. The aspirations you hold for your business, the dreams that propelled you to start this journey, hinge on embracing change and investing in bringing your business into the current day! So, what are you going to do to redefine the future of your business so to invest in the well-being of your team? https://lnkd.in/e_b7dBJq

As a big Formula 1 (F1) fan, I see striking parallels between racing and financial planning. Both demand precision, strategy, and adaptability such as: - Having a race strategy – Like a driver studying the circuit, financial success starts with a well-thought-out plan. - Consistency over speed – Winning isn’t just about going fast; it’s about consistency, much like building wealth over time. - Adapting to changing conditions – Whether it's weather on the track or market shifts, being flexible with your approach is crucial. In F1 and in life, it’s not always about how fast you go, but how well you handle the journey! #F1 #FinancialPlanning #Strategy #WealthBuilding

Fascinating story of F1 Williams team's transformation journey! Did you know they were 20 years behind other F1 teams in some areas, and even built and managed their F1 car in Excel? But they recognized that this was not the foundation for better results. So, they overhauled their processes, systems, and culture. It wasn't just about performance, but also the number of developments throughout the season. When do you think it's the right time for a company to undergo a transformation by redesigning its processes, structure, systems, and teams? @movie credits The race #f1 #companytransformation #processredesign #transformation #advancedorganisationalconsulting

I’ve always believed that leaders can learn massively from sport and can apply lessons learned in sport into their organisations. This article provides a brief insight to one of the most successful people in F1, Adrian Newey. The key lesson of which is summed up in this short paragraph; “For Newey, it is all about accessing the maximum amount of performance for the maximum amount of time. It sounds simple, but it is a formula so many F1 designers seem to forget remarkably often.” The need to consider the bigger picture and view performance across the whole organisation rather than chasing the next shiny thing. What lessons have you been able to apply from sport? #f1 #businesstransformation #organisationalchange

Excel's Pit Stop: Reviving Formula 1's Competitive Edge Formula 1 is one of the most fast-paced working environments, and even the slightest advantage can make the difference between winning and losing. Yet, as technology evolved, the once-trusted tool of Excel began to hold back leading F1 teams due to its inherent limitations as a planning tool. The Williams F1 Team's recognition of Excel's limitations marked a turning point, revitalising their competitive spirit. Their cars were built in Excel up to and including the year 2024, almost resisting better-equipped software that would have ensured higher performance outputs. At Both&, we encourage businesses to break free from outdated methods and embrace a future of innovation and success. We guide businesses into the age of digitalisation and help them stay informed and up-to-date with the latest trends in tech. Formula 1's journey reminds us of the importance of adapting to change. Sometimes, there are streaks of gold in the old; other times, it is best to rapidly shift gears and evolve with the times. #Bothand #Formula1 #Excel #OutdatedSoftware #DigitalTransformation

Another week and another Adrian arrives at Aston Martin – the second of two masterstrokes from Lawrence Stroll. It's great to see the Aston Martin F1 Team in the news today with Adrian Newey joining the team as Managing Technical Partner. I don't understand the job title, but I do know Newey will make a difference - as he has done everywhere he's worked. This is barely a week after Adrian Hallmark joined Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd as CEO - Hallmark will make a big difference to the road car business, too. I greatly admire what Stroll has done with the F1 team, bringing in some of the best people in F1, top technical partners and excellent sponsors. But if there's one weakness in his leadership, it's nepotism. Does anyone really believe Lance Stroll is the best driver to have alongside Fernando Alonso? How much better could the team's performance be with someone else in the second (or joint first) seat? Stroll Senior's legacy in Formula One should be a multi-championship winning team. And to do that you need to have the best two drivers you can possibly get on the grid. Stroll Junior may be an okay racer, but for Aston Martin in F1 okay isn't good enough. Leadership means making difficult decisions. And maybe Lawrence Stroll can't or won't make the most difficult one of all...

1.80 seconds! That's the fastest F1 pit stop on record, and it's a perfect example of what a team with a clear vision and mission can achieve. It’s a stark reminder that minimizing wasted time, eliminating indecision, and operating at peak performance can set new benchmarks and lead to unmatched success. Formula 1 has time and again shown us that it's never just a one-man show! The driver might be in the spotlight, but it's the team behind the scenes that drives the real success. When every member knows their role, focuses on the right tasks at the right moment, and streamlines their efforts by eliminating unnecessary steps, that's when a team truly shines and supports you in winning the race. Remember, if you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, build a team you can bank on!
