T-Mobile is continuing to support and help communities affected by the wildfires in Southern California.    🛰️ 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱: Less than 1% of our network sites remain impacted mostly in the Pacific Palisades due to damage or inaccessibility and we continue to deploy supplementary coverage with generators and other temporary technology. Our Starlink service has supported ~198,000 users with basic and 911 texting as well as wireless emergency alerts.    👨🚒 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: We are supplying frontline first responders with over 1,000 pieces of equipment to help with their connectivity needs including T-Priority enabled devices for consistently faster 5G speeds.     🔋 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀: We continue to deploy support trucks across Southern California including Red Cross shelters and community events with free Wi-Fi, 24/7 device charging and other supplies available to anyone, regardless of provider.     🎒Connecting students and educators: leveraged our Project 10Million program to provide free hotspots and service for K-12 students whose families have been affected by the fires.    For current locations of support trucks and more details on our response, see this regularly updated post: https://lnkd.in/g67KvUS7

The devastation in California is heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with the people and businesses affected. To the first responders, EMS, and everyone working tirelessly to save lives and contain the fires—thank you. T-Mobile’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) is on the ground ensuring the incredible efforts of first responders and agencies have the connectivity they need. We’re working closely with FEMA, Cal Fire, and local agencies to support communication and restoration efforts. If your organization needs support, reach out—we’re ready to help. Reliable connectivity is critical during emergencies. Overlapping coverage and more than 600 permanent and portable generators have helped restore service to many areas impacted by power loss. Our teams are continuing to refuel and deploy equipment as conditions safely allow. We’ve also activated our T-Mobile Starlink Direct-to-Cellular service in Southern California. STARLINK IN DISASTER: WHEN TOMORROW IS TOO LATE STARLINKS Needs to be part a Disater Plan when it comes to Acquisition, Training, Pre-positioning, Use, and Demobilization. I have made this my primary focus when it comes to the STARLINK System. If STARLINKS are being received at the point of the disaster without training, system updates, dispersal plans, and power accommodations, the continuity of response may be disrupted and expectations may not be met with the delivery of these systems. https://lnkd.in/gDdVQr7U

The devastation from the LA wildfires is heartbreaking. During these times we are inspired by seeing communities, first responders and leaders unite to protect lives. AT&T and FirstNet are on the ground restoring connectivity, protecting critical network infrastructure and supporting public safety efforts.   We are deploying advanced technology to support our response. To help restore connectivity, we’ve deployed portable generators, backup power solutions and two Satellite Cell on Light Trucks (SatCOLTs) at Zuma and Will Rogers Beaches. Our Response Operations Group is supporting first responders, and mobile charging stations are ready to keep communities connected during this critical time.   Most of our network in and around LA is operating normally, but some sites near the fire zones are offline. As network restoration efforts continue following the California wildfires, #WiFi is stepping in to help fill connectivity gaps for mobile carriers amid fiber and cellular disruptions. Member companies Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T have deployed Wi-Fi stations to keep communities and first responders connected, as Wi-Fi is critical in ensuring reliable communication during emergencies. I'm a Watch Duty volunteer and could use your help (especially the GEOINT community). You're probably aware of the unprecedented fires in LA right now and Watch Duty is a key resource helping save lives. About 3 weeks ago I reached out to the CEO John, asking if he's considered how satellite imagery could help the mission. He responded right away and we've had a couple energizing conversations. I've since researched the state of wildfire monitoring and detection looking at IR sensors among other things. But much of it seems on the horizon, not quite here yet. But I also learned of the expanded mission profile for Watch Duty looking to help with other hazards like flooding under the mission of better understanding what *is* happening vs what may happen. Here is my ask: - I need access to daily collect imagery, presumably 5m or better. I'm currently in contact with FEMA, but would could imagine NOAA or other federal agencies having access to programs like GEGD. - Pointers to open data programs, like Maxar Technologies - Any other easy to access aerial programs Watch Duty is a non profit so free/cheap access to very recent imagery is important.
