Built by a joint venture between McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and Barnsley Construction Group, this $78 million project is the only government facility in Georgia with mass timber as the main material. 🔹 𝙈𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞-𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨: Beyond housing the new city hall for Brookhaven, it features a rooftop garden, city council chambers, administrative offices, a catering kitchen, and support spaces for public use. About 60% of this space will be accessible to the general public. 🔹 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙩𝙮: Constructing with mass timber brought unique challenges, from specialized loading logistics to positioning and manoeuvring large wood panels. A greener future is taking root in B.C. with the province updating its building code to encourage more mass timber construction, reported BIV News. "The latest updates, announced April 10, allow encapsulated mass-timber construction (EMTC) buildings to reach as high as 18 storeys for residential and office buildings, up from the previous limit of 12 storeys." "EMTC is a type of construction that has achieved a certain degree of fire safety thanks to the mass timber components being encapsulated in fire resistant materials. Builders can sometimes work around certain new construction codes and costs when having a project approved for a renovation status — avoiding new construction status — by keeping a structure's existing foundation and front wall intact and building completely new all around. Originally built in 1925 — this project in Ocean City, New Jersey has since been deemed new construction due to the extent of the project but a snapshot of the lifecycle of a home along the Jersey Shore. #shorerealestate #shorelife #jerseyshore

Sometimes, you just have to pull your socks up and get on with it 💪    This was a recent project Pristine Building Solutions finished for a customer. As you can see, the end result was totally worth it, but this one wasn’t smooth sailing!     This project had many complications from start to finish. We had to:   👉 Replace all the drainage 👉 Build 3 rafts over the drainage to protect it for the extension 👉 Alter a lot on-site to make the project work (because the existing restraint straps on the house gave us very tight clearance for the roof).   However, at Pristine Building Solutions, we see every challenge and obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow. So, as much as this one almost had us pulling our hair out, we’re glad we did it 🤣   Shout out to the team for their innovation and determination in completing this project – you all did an incredible job 👏   Here's the finished project and see how much space the extension has given this family 👇🏼   #Construction #BuildingProject #HomeExtension #HighQualityWork
