What do Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky, Leon Marchand and Daniel Slavik have in common? That's right. They all won gold this year during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Daniel Slavik, Digital Director, assisted by his furry sidekick, took home the most coveted victory of the whole games in our Go For Gold competition which saw members of our teams across the globe battling it out to predict the most correct gold medal winners during this year’s games. It was great to see our teams come together to celebrate and compete on a global level with 1st Place awarded to top individual (Daniel Slavik), country (United Kingdom) and region (EMEA). (We saw BBC Sport missed a few important faces off their iconic athlete montage, so we thought we’d give it a crack with some of our Tag superstars) #GoForGold

With another impressive haul of medals, 65 in total, it’s hard to believe that back in Atlanta in 1996, Team GB won just one gold, and 15 medals in total. So what changed? One of the most significant developments has been a more holistic approach towards performance - and one that we think can benefit organisations too. The strategy is now about how athletes train, and also how they rest and recover. It’s also about looking for marginal gains that can enhance the performance window. Everyone has stepped up their game in every area from training to performance. If, as you look at the best stats from Paris, you are thinking about the performance of your own teams, then you may enjoy our latest book, ’Rest. Practise. Perform.’ where we show how the winning strategies of elite sports can be applied to organisational performance. https://lnkd.in/eQdKebEH #Performance #TeamPerformance #EliteSports

I listened to this amazing conversation about sports fandom! Here are some of my key takeaways: 1. Barriers to entry for emerging sports: Adult sports fandom is driven by youth participation, so for sports like sailing and lacrosse, which have limited accessibility, how can the leagues spark that fandom in new fans? 2. Find the gaps: While F1’s Drive to Survive success has created a new landscape for sports awareness and brand growth, not every sport has that same opportunity yet so emerging sports must find their own opportunities. 3. Sports is entertainment: The lifestyle and events that surround the game are what continuously bring in both casual and avid fans - both of which are key to growing the longevity of a brand.
Last week, SailGP's Chief Revenue Officer Ben Johnson joined onstage at SXSW alongside USA Lacrosse's CEO Marc Riccio and Bay FC Co-Founder and Co-Chair Aly Wagner as part of the Next in Sports: The People and Properties Reimagining Fandom panel moderated by Bloomberg's Vanessa Perdomo. The session explored what's happening around the corner and across the globe about the future of sports and the dynamic shifts in this ever-changing industry.
