Time for a candid conversation about the Commercial Construction industry culture. Below are a list of things I have experienced during my career journey. ❌ Bullying & Sexual Harassment ❌ Verbal Abuse (yelling, screaming, swearing, aggression) ❌ Threats of physical harm ❌ Narcissism and gaslighting (Extreme forms) ❌ Things physically thrown at me ❌ Ostracised This culture is NOT acceptable. It makes our industry unwelcoming, especially for young people, minority groups, and women, leading to high turnover and low retention. I'm now at a point where I get 'Mumma Bear' angry if I see this behavior and I'm quick to protect others. If you see something - Say something - Stand up for yourself and advocate for others. Remember, support groups like Rise and Mates in Construction exist because of unacceptable behaviors like this. (They are Great, I just wish we didn't need them) #constructionculture #RISE #MatesInConstruction

Glad I am not the only one who gets 'Mumma Bear' angry about this. I've been in the construction industry for over 20years, and while it is better than when I first started, the industry can still do so much better.
