Taiho Oncology strives to understand the patient journey from diagnosis through treatment, incorporating the patient experience into the fabric of our company.
In pursuit of this goal, we’ve participated in a number of patient advocacy events around the United States that support awareness, research and education for various types of cancer. We look forward to being involved in more of these events in 2024 and beyond.
Showing up for patients isn't just something we do — it's a part of who we are as an organization.

🔑 "The key to advancing precision oncology is to democratize the data." 🔑
I cannot tell you how excited I am to contribute to our New Medicines, Novel Insights report on behalf of patients/caregivers/advocates. This is everything our stakeholder community has been saying to empower us in shared decision making! It's OUR data!
I highlight three things we MUST do to ensure all patients can potentially benefit from precision oncology.

“...who’s helping them?”
Through our collaboration with Takeda Oncology, we published the 'Improving Health Equity in Lung Cancer' foundational paper, with the overarching takeaway being empathy. Laronica Conway is a perfect example of someone whose compassion and empathy for others make them a strong patient advocate.
From the foundational paper we hosted, 'Your Voice: Sparking Meaningful Change in Society' at GVCC 2023. Derived from insights shared by Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) patients, care partners, and healthcare professionals like Laronica, the paper sheds light on their experiences.
Laronica, driven by her personal journey as a care partner for her mother with stage four lung cancer in 2008, believes that "advocacy chose her." This experience heightened her compassion, fostering genuine care for others facing illness.

Hello everyone! Here comes the long-awaited #ColonCancerCoalition's fourth story in the #LivingwithLynch series from Trevor.
Trevor was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in 2018, and several family members, including himself, tested positive for the germline PMS2 variant. He is a proud dad of two daughters, and he shares his gratitude for being able to go camping and spend time with his family after starting immunotherapy.
Trevor has also founded a non-profit organization called "MAN UP TO CANCER." Please visit his website and spread the news. It could also be a great resource for providers to share with their patients. Here is a little introduction to MAN UP TO CANCER:
"Man Up to Cancer inspires men to connect and avoid isolation during their cancer journeys. As a leading support community for men impacted by cancer in North America, we offer peer-to-peer support, an annual retreat, chemo backpack program, learning opportunities, and more than 30 local chapters geared toward improving the quality of life of our members. (https://lnkd.in/eA6D8mzk
Trevor shares an invaluable perspective, not only as the founder of this non-profit but also as a stage IV colon cancer patient. Listening to his story and learning about his non-profit provide valuable insights into the kind of support patients need throughout their treatment journey. For instance, MAN UP TO CANCER launched a chemo backpack program to support patients undergoing chemotherapy. This is a great support for those going through chemo for the first time. It also made me realize another way I can support cancer patients by allowing the room for patients to share their feelings before the first chemo and discussing them together.

Over the past seven years, the ABC Global Alliance has worked tirelessly to advocate for the needs of those affected by breast cancer and will continue to do so.
Findings from our Global Advanced/Metastatic Breast Cancer Patient Biomarker Survey highlight that patients face many challenges in understanding their diagnosis with limitations in the information, education and support provided to them, impeding their ability to self-advocate and engage effectively in shared decision-making.
As such, the breast cancer community collectively has a critical role to play in galvanizing change for those diagnosed with mBC, by:
👉 Elevating the effectiveness of communication between HCPs and patients
👉 Empowering patients with information and guidance for self-advocacy
👉 Activating local patient advocacy groups to drive change and advocacy
