Celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth 𝐘𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰. As we celebrate Black History month, it reminds us to pause and recognize the many contributions Black Americans have had on our stories. It is especially important to note the ties between credit unions and Black History. As a financial cooperative, we’re using this month to celebrate and share the history and culture of Black Americans in the world of finance. It's been an incredible journey through #BlackHistoryMonth 2024🖤✊🏿. As we wrap up this series of daily posts, let’s remember that Black History is NOT a separate entity from American History; rather, it is an integral and inseparable part of the nation's narrative. The contributions, struggles, and achievements of Black people have played a significant role in shaping the nation's identity AND… progress. Acknowledging Black History every day of the year is essential because it recognizes the ongoing impact of Black Americans on all aspects of society, including culture, business, politics, science, and the arts. Embracing this perspective fosters a more inclusive and accurate understanding of the nation's past, present, and future. By incorporating Black history into the broader narrative, we promote unity, diversity, and a collective appreciation for the resilience and triumphs of the Black community. Black History is American History

Black History Month is a time to spotlight and celebrate the honorable contributions, achievements, and culture of Black Americans and their communities. However, these efforts should be applied year-round. Fortunately, at DeVry, we can lean into our business resource groups, including the Association of Black Colleagues (ABC), to enable continuous learning by going deeper into discussions and making meaningful connections. When Americans commonly know their history, then #BlackHistoryMonth will not just be proudly celebrated by Black Americans. Non-Black Americans will celebrate Black History Month with nearly as much pride because they will know they have benefited from longstanding Black struggles to make freedom, equality, and democracy a reality for Black Americans by making it real for all Americans. When we say Black history is American history, it is not a slogan. It is a historical reality.
