Change A Pet's Life Day Our four-leggèd-y friends change our lives every single moment of every single day. Today is another opportunity for us to change the life of dogs in need. Here are a few suggestions of how we may change the life of a homeless dog. 🌟 Donate: We might like to consider a donation to our favourite Rescue, Rehabilitation and Rehoming Centre - not necessarily financial support - we might also consider toys and blanket donations or a gift of food to our local Pet Food Bank. Many Rehoming Centres have wish lists of what they most need. 🌟 Adopt: When we adopt we are not only changing the life of our four-leggèd-y friends, we are also creating both the opportunity and the space for another homeless dog to find their new family too. 🌟 Volunteer: Not everyone has the space, time or funds to re-home an adoptable dog. However, we may feel that offering to walk dogs at our local Centre may help some dogs get some much needed chill-time and improve their chances of finding their perfect person. Volunteering changes lives. 🌟 Foster: With the current pressure of available places in Shelters stretched to capacity, there may be those of us who feel able to consider bringing an adoptable dog into our homes for a temporary period. Fostering frees up resources and helps dogs adjust to a home environment. Fostering is particularly important for those dogs who find kennel life particularly stressful - improving their chances of finding a new home. 🌟 Share your story: For those of us who have had our lives changed by an adopted four-leggèd-y friend, sharing our story may prove inspirational to others. Do please feel free to share your own stories below - why did you choose to adopt? Enjoy your Wednesday folks. Thank you for coming by #voxdog #dogphotographer #dogphotography #dogs #dog #doglovers #adogaday #dogsarefamily #dogsoflinkedin #adoptdontshop

Meet military pet and cherished companion of the Carlson Family, Nala. After a devastating house fire, the Carlsons found a temporary home for themselves but couldn't bring Nala due to rental restrictions. In order to secure boarding, Nala needs to be spayed. Enter Dogs on Deployment's Rich Setzer Memorial Fund. The Rich Setzer Memorial Fund is our lifeline for military families in need. It provides crucial financial assistance to military pet owners facing emergencies, including medical expenses, transportation costs during military moves, and basic veterinary expenses such as spay and neuter. Nala's story underscores the importance of spaying and neutering in our military community. It's not just about boarding compliance; it's about safety, reducing overpopulation, and ensuring every pet's well-being. But we're not alone in this mission. Dogs on Deployment is proud to partner with SNAP (Spay Neuter Action Project) to bring Operation Pet Wellness to military communities in San Diego County. Together, we're ensuring access to affordable spay and neuter services for military pets, making a tangible difference in the lives of our service members and their furry companions. Now, you can help make a difference too! Support military pets through Dogs on Deployment's Operation Pet Wellness initiative! Your donation helps provide affordable spay and neuter services in partnership with SNAP. What we do to help our community defines us. But there is always the thought of "How can I help?" You don't have the money donate. You're busy and don't know if you have enough time to volunteer. And if you do have the time to volunteer, where do you volunteer. How do you apply to be a volunteer. Or maybe you think you just can't do it emotionally or physically. But here's the thing, you can help your community without donating money. Sometimes it doesn't even require a whole lot of time. It can be as easy as chatting up someone in the store when you see them stressing. Or having a elderly single person or couple over for a backyard BBQ. If you're already doing it, the time commitment is null and grilling a couple of extra burgers is a minimal cost. Or maybe you can take something you are already doing and turn it into something that helps the community. Let me tell you how I did that. I lost a cat and wasn't finding it anywhere. I was searching the websites of the various shelters, crawling the FB lost and found pets groups every day, and finding nothing. But what I did notice on those FB groups was for every "found" pet post, there are 5-10 lost pet postings. And I was looking at over a thousand posts per day over about 50 FB groups. I was looking at far more lost pets than found pets. That is when it hit me. Since I was already scanning the groups for my pet, I could help others look too by creating a group that was for found pets only. I started sharing the posts from all the other groups that I was looking at. That way people searching for their pets online could skip all those other lost pet postings. And it works. I've had numerous people tell me I helped them find their pets. All in the course of what I was doing anyway. The point is this: you may be able to become involved in your community just by applying what you are already doing in a way that affects others in a positive way. Give it a try. I bet you'll feel better about yourself.

Our research shows that as the cost of dog ownership rises, so does the love and commitment from pet owners 💙 75% of dog owners are cutting back on their own spending to afford to care for the canine companions. With vet bills averaging £679 a year, many are turning to more affordable food or grooming their dogs at home. At Guide Dogs, we’re also feeling the strain, as the expense of caring for our life-changing guide dogs grows. “We know all too well the pressures people are facing to provide the best care for their dogs. At Guide Dogs, we shoulder all the major costs for our guide dogs throughout puppyhood and their working lives.” That’s why this October, we’re asking for your help with The Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal, so we can continue providing life-changing guide dog partnerships to those with sight loss 🐕🦺❤️ Whether you sponsor a puppy, make a donation, or shop with us, you can help ensure our guide dogs can keep changing lives. Head over to The Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal page to see how you can help 👉 bit.ly/3Cob3Lv #GuideDogs #PuppyAppeal #SupportGuideDogs #NonProfit #SightLossAwareness Image description - A yellow lab puppy having their teeth checked by a member of the breeding team.

Every year, thousands of pets find themselves in shelters, waiting for loving families to take them home. Unfortunately, some animals face more challenges than others when it comes to being adopted. Pets with disabilities, medical conditions, or simply those that don’t meet conventional standards of attractiveness are often passed over. Senior pets and those requiring special care also face longer waits for adoption. Fortunately, Greater Good Charities changes this by offering support and resources that help these "less adoptable" pets find their forever homes. Click below to learn some of the ways we do this! #AdoptALessAdoptablePetWeek https://hubs.ly/Q02QwvkX0
