We warmly congratulate the COP28 UAE Presidency for The UAE Consensus, the landmark deal signed by almost 200 countries. The agreement forged over days of intense discussions between governments brings many opportunities for those energy and commodities companies — such as BGN — that are committed to supporting the energy transition. The race is on to decarbonize: through efficiency improvements, addressing emissions from fossil fuels, investing in renewables and the use of transitional fuels to accelerate the transition and ensure energy security. COP28 also underscored the importance of mobilizing finance for carbon removals and developing robust carbon crediting systems. Strengthening the integrity of voluntary carbon trading, and using this rapidly growing market to reinforce the emissions trading compliance market, should be a priority for policy makers and businesses.
