Three More Elements of Reflection According to the Quran Tafakkur, tazakkur, and nadzar are three important elements in the life of a thinking Muslim. 1) Tafakkur is the process of reflecting on Allah's creation, observing His beauty and greatness. Through this, we strengthen our faith and gratitude. 2) Tazakkur is the process of remembering Allah in every aspect of our lives, renewing our spiritual energy and drawing closer to Him. 3) Nadzar means observing the world and life with full attention, ensuring we do not miss the signs of Allah's greatness hidden around us. When one says “Bismillah” before starting to do anything, what that means is, “I start this action accompanied by the name of Allah or seeking help through the name of Allah, seeking blessing thereby. 3 things to transform your fast this Ramadan: 1. Fast from comparisons: Allah says "And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others... And ask Allah of His bounty. Indeed Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing" [4:32] Wishing for what someone else has is code for being displeased with our current state. I prefer to focus on what Allah can provide for me instead of what others have. 2. Fast from negative self-talk: I know we love to "hold ourselves accountable" but no one grows from criticism. Like a plant, we grow through nurturing ourselves via loving compassion. 3. Fast from the worship checklist: we need to stop mindlessly collecting points like Pac-Man. The purpose of worship is to gain Taqwa. Try committing to a few acts of worship but deepen your awareness of God in those acts of worship. Take it slow. Be present, for God is with you! Give it a try you'll be surprised how much your life will improve. May Allah's Peace be with you 🤲 ✨
