Taking some time for yourself over the next month? There’s so much talk of work/life balance these days, but the statistics are still very one sided. 88% of UK employees have experienced burnout in the last 2 years. 1 in 3 people feel they don’t have a good work life balance. 50% of all employees who switched jobs in 2022, did so to achieve a better work life balance. 82% of Brits do not take a full lunch break, with two thirds of workers eating lunch at their desk most days. Things have got to change. Here’s our top 3 tips to ensure you’re taking a proper break on your upcoming summer holiday and not just thinking about work. Set boundaries for your phone. Yes, we know this one can be hard. But airplane mode isn’t just designed for the time between take off and landing. Be sure to disconnect and be where your feet are. Whether that’s chasing your kids on the beach or relaxing and reading a book in the sun while sipping a beer. Recognise that being unproductive is productive. Sounds cliche, but it’s true. You need to actually allow yourself to do something you enjoy, whether that’s hitting a session at the gym in the hotel, going for a morning swim, having a lie in til 11am, whatever it is, cut yourself some slack. Now is the time to do it. Get out of your head and into your body. Whatever kind of holiday or break you’re going on, the benefits of physical activity go beyond just looking good in the mirror. Take some time to break a sweat and move your body. You’ll feel better for it and be much more present. What boundaries do you put in place to ensure you’re properly taking a break from work on your holidays? #worklifebalance #burnout
