The USA is looking to revive its Bureau of Mines. Today, mining policy is decided by multiple agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management, the Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Supporters argue that the Bureau would bring more accountability, transparency, and efficiency when it comes to decisions made relating to mining in the US. #Mining #Policy #USA #CriticalMinerals https://lnkd.in/ghxnMEGb

Its important to realise that many of these mines, once closed, revert to Native Title Determined Lands. The life-long management of the mine and the quality of the closure plan will have an enormous impact on Native Title Holders rights to the land. I am deeply concerned that NTP rights are being destroyed with little thought to the inter-generational impact this has on their connection to Country, and their right to use the land inperpetuity through arbitraty decisions about final landform, contaminated sites locations and rehabilitation metrics. How can we do this better?? I feel Closure Plans need to be developed, not just with some ‘engagement’ with relevant stakeholders. There needs to be feasibility and landuse assesments completed, and long term landuse plans developed led by Native Title Parties, facilitated and produced by mining companies through closure plans. This will ensure that the private sector, who have profited greatly from significant destruction, close the gap and set the future land use up for success!

The Lawless Labor Government has been caught out telling more lies to the people of Tennant Creek. Just today, Joel Bowden, the Minister for Tourism and Infrastructure has announced that the Battery Hill Gold Mining & Heritage Centre will receive $500,000 in this year’s budget to develop and implement a site interpretation plan to enhance the visitor experience! Clearly, this is not new money for Tennant Creek or the Barkly, you only have to look at previous announcements over the last three years which the new Minister has obviously missed. 🔹in budget 2020 / 2021, $4.683 million was committed for new visitor experiences including gold rush and ore mining interpretative displays in Tennant Creek 🔹in budget 2021 / 2022, $3.839 million was committed for new visitor experiences including gold rush and ore mining interpretative displays in Tennant Creek 🔹in budget 2022 / 2023, $3.527 million was committed for new visitor experiences including gold rush and ore mining interpretative displays in Tennant Creek 🔹in budget 2023 / 2024, $3.5 million was committed for new visitor experiences including gold rush and ore mining interpretative displays in Tennant Creek It seems that from the original amount of $4.683 has disappeared, there is no sign of the $3.8 million rolled over in 2021 and we are still waiting to see the $3.5 million rolled over for the last two years. The only changes of seen is the new sign at Battery Hill and the one on the corner of Peko Road and Paterson Street – surely they didn’t cost $4.683 million?

Coverage stock Trigg Minerals Limited (ASX: TMG) has advised of the wider evaluation of the antimony potential of its Drummond Basin projects in northern Queensland. Trigg's projects lie between several multi-million-ounce intrusion-related and orogenic gold deposits, totalling than 20 Moz in the region. These include Ravenswood (7Moz Au), Mt Leyshon (3.5Moz Au), Mt Wright (1.5Moz Au) and Charters Towers (6.8Moz Au). Economic grades of antimony (up to 2.3% Sb) have been discovered in the epithermal gold and polymetallic mineralisation at Police Creek, near Mt Coolan in the Drummond Basin. Additionally, a historical epizonal antimony-gold mine, the Antimony Mine, was identified near the Mt Wright deposit within the Charters Towers Province. Trigg's data review has revealed significant potential for intrusive-related and orogenic gold systems in this historically rich mining area, where more than 70 intrusion-related gold systems are located. The geological setting at Trigg's Bosworth and West Ravenswood projects is considered highly favourable for hosting the large, high-grade gold deposit often associated with an IRGS, and antimony is commonly associated with this deposit type. #gold #antimony #commodities #resources #exploration #equities #ausbiz

🗞️ NEWS -- Nord Precious Metals (TSXV: NTH) | (OTC: CCWOF) a prominent exploration company specializing in silver and cobalt, is thrilled to announce the discovery of a significant new silver zone at the Castle East property, named the "All Stars" zone. This exciting discovery marks a pivotal moment in the development of Castle East and underscores the potential for substantial silver resources within the project area. ⚒️ ☑️ New high-grade silver mineralized “All-Stars” zone discovered 400 – 500 meters from the high-grade silver Robinson zone . ☑️ Two separate vein structures grading 5,441 and 3,730 grams per tonne (gpt) silver discovered in the former Capitol Silver mine, now on Nord mining leases ☑️ Potential for a massive, mineralized silver – cobalt discovery in an area where only 25 percent has been historically explored and developed to produce 60 million ounces of silver 🗣️ “The opportunity here in Gowganda is significant. We must remember that only about 25 percent or less of the Miller Lake Basin was mined - almost all of which was in the northwestern edge of the basin ’the low hanging fruit’ . Extensions from the Capitol Mine system are an important part at expanding resources,” commented Matthew Halliday, P.Geo., President of Nord Precious Metals. "We have multiple targets to explore, and a big system to do it in.” 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gnhcnftP #stocks #trading #invest #silver #cobalt

Water is critical to the mining industry. Without water, mines don’t function. However, water must be managed appropriately as it's also one of the primary drivers of slope failures and slope instability. In his latest article, CM&G Director Tim Cartledge examines why groundwater and surface water management is imperative to the geotechnical performance of a mine site. From understanding the nature of water on site to implementing the right solution, he shares that with some planning and forethought, managing water can be done effectively. Arizona Gold & Silver inc. (TSXV: AZS) (OTCQB:AZASF) is please to announce initial results of sampling a recently uncovered historic adit and RC drilling at the Philadelphia Gold-Silver property, Arizona. Mr. Greg Hahn VP Exploration commented, “Drilling at Philadelphia has two objectives: to build a bulk tonnage low grade heap leachable resource at grades +0.5 gpt gold, and to delineate high grade portions in the FW and HW veins that were the subject of historic mining. The channel sampling in the recently uncovered adit revealed what is likely the higher grade core of the Rising Fawn section of the mineral system, where we have limited drill hole coverage. This higher grade area remains to be drilled.” Greg Hahn continued, “The drilling results in the Rising Fawn Gap demonstrate the gold-silver stockwork system continues towards the Perry portion of the mineral system with further drilling required. We intersected gold mineralization in the volcanics above the stockwork quartz interval which increases the total thickness of mineralization there. The drill intercepts in the Resaca Gap are primarily silver with low gold values. This suggests this is the periphery of the mineral system both to the north where the old Philadelphia mine workings are and southwards towards the Rising Fawn portion of the mineral system.” https://lnkd.in/gnMbcd-z #GoldMining #SilverMining #ArizonaMining #TSXV #OTCQB #ExplorationResults #DrillingResults #HistoricAdit #RCDrilling #HeapLeach #BulkTonnage #HighGradeGold #MineralExploration #ChannelSampling #GoldSilverSystem #Mineralization #MiningProjects #GeologicalSurvey #MiningNews #NaturalResources

National Director for Conservation at CPAWS - helping to protect land and water across Canada for future generations.
Last week, there was a heap leach failure and landslide at the Victoria gold mine near Mayo, in the traditional territory of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation, in the Yukon. 2 million tonnes of materials spilled from containment, with the potential for more to follow. Huge volumes of cyanide have escaped into the environment, with potentially devastating consequences for people and wildlife. The full ramifications of this disaster are, as of yet, unknown. The First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation has called for a halt on all mining in their traditional territory. This mine was held up as the gold star for mining done right in the Yukon, but that seems to be a fairly low bar. As far as I am aware, there has not been a single hard rock mine in the Yukon that has been fully remediated and closed without leaving a toxic legacy on the environment, huge tax payer cleanups or both. Meanwhile, most of the profits move to shareholders who don't have to live with the impacts. I realize we need to mine, but we cannot afford for any industry to supersede the rights of Indigenous people, local communities and the environment. To prevent the likelihood of future disasters moving forward: 1) Mining operations should be held to the highest environmental standards. If it's not financially viable for them to do that, then the mine is not financially viable. 2) Mining has to be limited to the right locations (determined through consultative processes like land relationship planning) to maximize benefits and minimize negative environmental, community and cultural impacts. 3) Mining should only proceed with the free, prior and informed consent of any impacted Indigenous Nations.
