3 senior D2K* folks came to me. They were visibly worried. They said – With the product moving to Java stack, we might not be required soon   *D2K = Oracle Developer 2000; a legacy technology. I replied candidly - Your concern is genuine. Your value will surely drop, even though you have other traits. Are you game for a change of profile?   (A couple of days back I was thinking about how we could reskill our D2K folks so that their contributions don’t dip. So, this struck a chord with me right away) They replied – Yes. We are ready to reskill ourselves. We can also join a weekend java course at XYZ institute.   I said- That’s great.   We sat together for an hour or so and worked out a 6-month plan to reskill the D2K people in the team. This included setting milestones related to their acquisition of basic skills through the external course, a set of technology mentors from the team, KT plan, parallel assignment of small dev packets and readiness check. The organization provided full support and reimbursed the external course fee. The team showed full commitment to reskill themselves. 📯 It worked very well. A big Win-Win.   💡 A small spark of passion ignited a change for several folks.
