As Evergreen week ends, we are reminded how our culture fuels and drives the powerful combination of People and Purpose not just at work, but in our personal lives as well.
I reflected on this year’s theme (Regions United – People/Purpose/Power), and the saying, “I wish I knew then, what I know now” is so relevant as I think back to my first position out of college. At first, my focus was on just getting a job. But as time went on, intangibles began to have a greater impact on my career. Who I would report to, were they nice, did they believe in me, did they provide me opportunities to grow? Sometimes I was fortunate and landed positions that made my cup overflow, and then there were roles that had me staring at the bottom of the cup, just wishing for change.
When I share with candidates, colleagues, and friends the concept of “why #Regions” and I get to the part where I talk about Evergreen Week, I find myself laughing. The feedback is usually “you are such a great storyteller”. I know it is hard to believe that an organization would take an entire week to celebrate their associates. But WE do. Year after Year!
People can be key to our life’s successes and failures, and Purpose is just as powerful. Having purpose is what can change the narrative. Last week, our entire TA team was fortunate to be brought together for the amazing #RegionsTASummit23. This time together provided an opportunity to refuel our enthusiasm, rekindle our relationships, and focus on what is our Purpose. I was reminded about the importance of our own personal network, how it is defined and how we engage with it. Networks are often viewed as what others can do for you, but a lasting genuine network is defined by what you can do for others. A network is like an old pair of shoes. It needs to be shined and cared for, daily. Or you will never get the original shine back.
Thank you, Regions, for a wonderful Evergreen week and TASummit, and I am so thankful for the opportunities to work with such amazing people who make my cup runneth over!
The grass is greener at Regions. If you want to learn more, please reach out to me and happy to share Why #Regions!
