Truth. You get this so much today. There is no such thing as a straight video editor listing on LinkedIn or anywhere. They don't want to spend the money for a graphic artist, so they're asking you, the video editor who knows how to poke around in Photoshop and illustrator to do some illustrations and typesetting, you know, the kind they do in Vogue, Rolling Stone, New York Times Magazine, etc . You might know how to do some basic mixes or even more complicated audio mixes, but they want someone who can do the kind of audio mix that they do at Skywalker Ranch. You need to be a cinematographer kind of like someone who has been a 20-year member of ACE and has at least 24 movies under his belt, plus five Oscar nominations. Bonus if you worked for Wim Wenders. They want you to be a Chief Information Officer (25,345 media files) but they will pay you like an intern. You need to be an excellent sound recordist- refer to Skywalker ranch reference. How are your lighting skills? Must be at least as good as Richard Avedon. Pay? From a Fortune 10 company? What a junior CMX editor used to make in 1985. I get recruiters all the time, how would you like to make $50 bucks an hour for work you were paid $75/hr for 8 years ago? That's right kids. Corporate America thinks your work experience is worthless but if you have the skills they want, they will pay you a third less than you normally make. Even half. #recruiters, #joblistings, #linkedin, #Fortune500, #underpaid #norespect. #work #employment But GOD forbid you underpay their #Mercedes mechanic by one cent.

Imagine getting consistent higher-paying clients through monthly video content. That's what we do! | BNI Sterling Member
Hiring a videographer isn't just about finding someone creative. It's about finding a balance between creativity and technical expertise. From cameras to editing, each aspect requires careful consideration. The creative process is just as important as the plan of pre and post-production. Finding the right fit for your project is crucial to avoid surprises. Because RESULTS matter.

Calling all Video Producers, Video Editors, Motion Designers, or Creatives in general! Let's share our job searching strategies, I'll go first! (Note I'm looking for remote work but open to contract or hybrid in San Diego). What sites do you use, how/where do you network, any unique strategies that have landed you interviews? My strategy a couple weeks in to my search: 1. Told all my friends on Facebook and Instagram that I'm looking for work. Already had a few friends send me open jobs at their companies. 2. Posted in a local FB group that I'm job hunting and found a group of women to job search with at a coffee shop, chat, share strategy, and support each other! And we are meeting every week. 3. Search LinkedIn Jobs and Indeed. 4. Search LinkedIn "posts" only for key words like "hiring video producer" to find employees and recruiters posting about open jobs. This can open you up to jobs less favored by the algorithm or not posted to LinkedIn Jobs. LinkedIn charges you for posting jobs so not every job is here. 5. Next I plan to look into local networking opportunities that feel relevant to me or the industries I want to be in. Let me know what your strategy has been so far or new ideas you have! #videoproducers #hiring #jobsearching #creatives #jobhuntstrategy

I'm quitting the film industry, and need your help finding a new role. I'm a cinematographer and digital imaging technician. I've had the privilege of working with big brands, household names, and some cool celebrities. First, COVID happened and all sets were closed.
