Do you want to make a living online but don’t know where to start? This is how⬇️ Step 1: Do NOT start a business Everyone online tells you to start ecom, droppshipping, SMMA and so on. But you will need to learn a lot of different skills: 1. Marketing 2. Sales 3. Client communication 4. Potentially hiring Which will be hard for you as a beginner. Instead, focus on one skill for example sales and get a remote sales job. You can make anything from 5k/month and there is no cap because you make more the better you become. And if you say you don’t like sales, then you probably don’t know what it is and think that you will become the annoying telecom sales rep. I was an SDR, but in a different world. When Sales Development Representatives actually developed sales. SDRs weren't telemarketers following up on dubious leads. We knew precisely where the prospects were on the intent curve. Because we lived with them from first contact to close. From early-stage pipeline to nurturing to win or "not now" I had strategy and implementation control of the sales development and account-based process within my territory. I knew the prospects and existing accounts on a first-name basis. I worked with a variety of people as my prospects and accounts: founders, owners, entrepreneurs, CEOs, CMOs—anyone who managed the marketing. I had a geographically defined territory comprised of Toronto, a business-driven city with a population of 6 to 7 million. As well as Montreal, New York, and Chicago. I was on a salary plus commission. I got leads from our sales/revenue-driven marketing efforts. But mostly from my personal prospecting and contact work. I was an SDR under three different business publishing titles: > Business Development Manager of a foodservice business magazine > Editor/publisher of a jewelry industry business magazine > Publisher of a magazine directed at the education profession. It was a very personally satisfying segment of my B2B communications career. Although I'm a "look-forward" person, I do think that contemporary B2B sales and marketing is now unnecessarily complex. I didn't have to fill in the boxes in 50 marketing and sales various-stage pipeline and funnel acronyms to know where I was at. I transitioned into remote sales about 2 months ago… Started off working with a digital marketing agency (a start up). Only sales rep there, no quality leads, started doing the prospecting myself, cold calling my prospects, doing roughly 150+ dials and booking 1-2 appointments a day… none of them converting unfortunately. On the bright side the experience that I got from that was second to none. However, I decided to start exploring different offers out there. Came across another digital marketing agency, well established, solid team, quality leads, team meetings and 1-1 coaching. First week working with them and BOOM 💥 $12,000 PIF. They said they have never seen that happen so early into hiring a new sales rep. Cold-emailing isn't what it looks like. ❤️ Every day, I go on at least 3 calls explaining how cold-emailing works. To my surprise, I get to hear a different response every time. - We think it's a scam & spam. - We have never tried it ever before. - We can't stake our money that risky. - We don't trust remote sales people at all. - We like to burn money on PPC ads- that works. Only until that changes to: - We wish we had started it before. - We regret burning money on PPC ads. - We saved X money with remote sales hiring. - We have grown our authority like never before - We couldn't find a better place to invest our money. Strange how trying new stuff can be a blessing in disguise. Just the way cold-emailing has turned out for me and others. P.S: What do you regret not trying before? Tell me in the comments.
