Dear hiring teams, Please don’t cage an exotic, free bird. You say want a unicorn. You say you want a big thinker. You say you want someone with creative ideas. But you don’t What you really want is an order taker. A pencil pusher. You want a yes woman or yes man. If this is the case, be honest with yourself and more importantly- be honest with them. There’s nothing wrong with hiring someone to fulfill the needs of the org even if they're mundane. But there is something wrong with selling a role as anything other than what it actually is. What’s the number one trait I look for when hiring? We’ve got more than ten roles open right now that we’re actively recruiting for. I’ll let you in on a secret. When hiring, I look for four things: 🔥Extreme character 🔥Extreme talent 🔥Extreme drive 🔥Teaming ability What do I mean by extreme character? I want my employees to have foundational principles and a deep understanding of the reciprocal duties to others. That they care about other people. That they are honest and have integrity. You’ve gotta nail character because this trait means they are someone you can have confidence in. You can trust them. They are going to be a benevolent person and do what’s right by the company. Character is underrated today in hiring. You can build someone’s skills, but if they don’t have character, innate talent, and drive, you’ll be spinning your wheels. #hiring #entrepreneurship #leadership
