I love seeing posts that say "Hiring managers love this", "Hiring managers hate this" But like how do we know this? Is there a survey sent out to hiring managers asking them what they love? Hiring Manager is not a job. The job is Engineering Manager, they just happen to hire. The job is Director of Finance, they just happen to hire. The job is Head of Marketing, they just happen to hire. And I can promise you, each of these "hiring managers" would love different things. In my experience, Engineering Managers like to see technical capabilities and expertise. Marketing managers like to see KPI's and metrics. Finance managers like to see attention to detail and operational excellence. There is no one size fits all. So if you come on here and see conflicting advice, don't let it confuse you. It is simply because the people making decisions are humans with preferences, and while there may be data to support some advice that is shared, most of it is just personal preferences.
