Should you, shouldn't you, yes, no, maybe, OK do it! Max, sounds to me like it's all systems go, fuel valves open, up the boost, shut the waste gate, nitrous on, chocks away, let the system fly. It's time to release Sustainable Engineering's pretotype Viridis Discovery Platform. Use your time at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics to talk to suppliers of engineering products, technologies, materials, processes and services. Explore how these companies and their technologies are contributing to sustainable product design and manufacturing, cost reduction and the new circular economy. Don't forget to ask how they are sharing this information now, what their pain points are and how the SE team can evolve Viridis to solve their problems.
📣 PRETOTYPE DEBUT 📣 The Sustainable Engineering Team will be visiting Southern Manufacturing & Electronics on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 February, speaking with exhibitors about the sustainability benefits of their products and adding those stories to the pretotype Viridis Discovery Platform, which aims to help OEMs go circular and connect design engineers with sustainable solutions. Be the first to see Viridis. ☕ Meet us for a coffee at Southern and we can show you the platform in detail. DM me, comment below or email to meet the team. 📅 ⬇ Email: max.barrett@sustainable.engineering

👀 As part of my job I speak with hundreds of engineers and one of the key concerns I find across the market is individuals lacking an environment that is challenging, and giving them a platform to learn new skills and processes. The packaging sector is undoubtedly one of the most interesting to be involved in, especially with innovation and sustainability understandably high on the agenda and it's one I can't recommend highly enough. 📈 This new DS Smith facility opening in Birmingham is a great example of the investment that companies within the packaging sector are taking and I imagine many of us will be intrigued by the fascinating innovations that will inevitably come out of this site. Great news also for the industry in Birmingham with the employment and collaboration opportunities that this brings. 💡 If you're a maintenance engineer considering a move into the packaging sector, why not get in contact with myself or Adam Dougan to talk about the benefits of doing so and how we can support you in this transition?

📢 Insights for Packaging Engineers and Sustainability Managers! As the environmental concerns associated with polymer packaging emerges, the field of bio-based materials as a potential solution grows in popularity among various policy initiatives advocating for the adoption of more environmentally friendly processes and systems in the service and manufacturing industries globally. As our expertise lies mainly in the sustainable product and packaging design with mycelium composite, we want to share with you some valuable insights for packaging engineers in the context of selecting environmentally impactful packaging designs, both bio-based and conventional: 📍Material Selection: Recommendations on choosing materials with lower environmental footprints, here is helpful to highlight the benefits of mycelium over traditional materials as mycelium-based composites are considered excellent alternative to EPS. 📍Design Considerations: Guidance on design elements that contribute to sustainability, such as optimising packaging shapes, sizes, and weights to minimise resource consumption and waste based on the selected material's specifications 📍Life Cycle Thinking: Encourage adoption of a life cycle perspective, considering not only the production phase but also transportation, use, and end-of-life aspects to make holistic and sustainable design decisions. 📍Collaboration and Innovation: Emphasis on collaboration across the supply chain and exploring innovative technologies or practices that can further reduce environmental impacts. 📍Regulatory and Market Trends: Awareness of current regulations and market trends related to sustainable packaging, ensuring that designs align with evolving standards and consumer preferences. In essence, these insights should empower packaging engineers and sustainability managers alike to make informed decisions that align with broader #sustainability goals and contribute to the responsible and eco-friendly evolution of packaging designs. We, at @Biomyc, are designing next-gen products and packaging from mycelium composite. Contact us for your next sustainable design journey, if you want to align better with your eco-conscious audience! 💫 . . . . . . #SustainablePackaging #MyceliumPackaging #EcoDesign #SustainableDesign #PackagingDesign
