I was talking to an ad agency owner last week who was frustrated with their hit-or-miss approach to new business. "We're always scrambling when a big opportunity comes up," he said. Sound familiar? Start planning your 2025 strategy, resources, and processes now so you won't be hit and miss. By taking a step back and developing a comprehensive, long-term new business plan, you can move from reactive to proactive. Be bold. Experiment. Push until you are uncomfortable. This means identifying your ideal clients, crafting a unique value proposition, and building relationships well before you need them. Leave a comment, and I’ll tell you what I do right now in September to make January 1 much better. #LetsGrow! #adagency #agencygrowth, #agencynewbusiness #agencyowners #agencylife agency growth consultant

Partner & Head of Development at Mischief | GQ World’s Most Creative Companies | 5x #1 Agency of the Year | Agency Comms & New Biz Team of the Year 22, 24 | Fast Co Most Innovative Agency 22, 23, 24 | Ad Age 40 Under 40
Mischief @ No Fixed Address pitches. To be clear. But we do not pitch a lot. We believe that what we say “yes” to shapes us, but what we say “no” to defines us. Finding the right agency-brand union is everything. Because if it’s not right from day one, you’re doomed from the moment you sign the contract. Mediocre work -> limp results -> lame case studies -> frustrated staff and clients -> waning employee retention and mass partner churn. A zero-sum game. Mischief’s biggest and best new business tool is the work. So our growth engine looks like this: Launch the work -> PR the hell out of it -> act like a brand and not an agency -> attract the right kind of partnerships with a shared belief in unexpected creativity -> launch the work. Mischief creates work that makes a stir, because the riskiest thing a brand can do is be ignorable. With a crystal-clear mission, a unique voice and personality, and an unparalleled product, we want to draw in the right partners before they even think about running a pitch. It was awesome to share this panel with the new biz pros who are Ashley Walters, APR at Curiosity, João Coutinho at Atlantic New York, and Pete Carter from Creative Haystack consultancy (p.s. if you are gonna pitch, Pete’s process feels like a really nice way to do it). Thank you Brian Bonilla for somehow moderating a complex panel of three about a very nuanced topic, and Ad Age for hosting the awesome Small Agency community. Congratulations to all the winners. A merry band of rule breakers. #marketing #adagency #creativity Judann Pollack

Marketing Operations and Agency Management Consultant | Ex-WPP, Ex-KPMG | Fractional Agency CMO: I work with companies to transform their marketing/sales operations and improve client/agency working relationships.
Well said Oliver McAteer. Mischief @ No Fixed Address has clearly learned this valuable lesson. The hardest thing for a new agency - or for that matter ANY agency - is to say NO! Too many agencies say yes to pitches they have no business participating in. And no chance of winning. Just as a client needs to carefully consider whether they want to call for a review, agencies must, must consider if they SHOULD PARTICIPATE. #bethoughtful #agencyassessment #agencyappraisal #agencyevaluation #marketing #procurement #marketingprocurement #marketingoperations #marketingtransformation
