Sharing business and leadership insights. Helping create healthier communities. Mental health & ADHD advocate. Former big corporate senior executive and now a small business owner.
You ever hear someone’s story and get goosebumps? Yesterday we were doing a dry run for a panel discussion Rise is holding to help entrepreneurs network and build meaningful connections to drive business growth. One of the panelists is Alexa Jovanovic, founder of Aille Design (Aille is pronounced “eye”). She shared the background of her company and the hair on the back of my neck immediately stood up, and yes, I had goosebumps. Aille Design is a social enterprise, which promotes inclusive fashion. Their garments are co-created by sighted and non-sighted individuals consisting of braille readers, fashion stylists, and disability advocates. I stole that last sentence right from their website. There’s no point in trying to say it better when it’s already well said. One of the reasons I enjoy working with Rise is the significant impact they have in empowering people with mental health and addiction challenges to achieve greater social and economic inclusion through entrepreneurship. I stole that from their website too. But involvement with them means a guy like me, who did not grow up with significant entrepreneurial roles models, gets to hear first hand of others who are doing amazing things. It inspires me to learn, and do, more. It gives me confidence that I, too, can have big aspirations, and make a meaningful impact in the community in which I live, and love. People like Alexa, and organizations like RISE, are critical to the vibrancy, health and growth of our communities. In Canada, we are losing entrepreneurs in large numbers. We need to do more to support them. If not, who will be left to give us goosebumps? #hypewomen #enterpreneurship #inclusionmatters #inclusiveleadership

Recently, we saw a 60% rise in unique chats on flutrr leading upto Valentine’s Day. And the trend is continuing beyond the seasonal spike. This isn't just good news for us as a business, but a resounding validation of our core philosophy – empowering youth, especially women, in Tier 2-3 cities to exercise agency in love. The surge in conversations is breaking down the myth that our target audience in Tier 2 and 3 cities aren’t ready for modern dating. Matching on a dating platform is one thing, but to see more women engage in continued conversations is a sign that we are moving in the right direction. However, this surge in activity means our third-party chat server costs have gone through the roof. Now, we’re planning to build our own chat server for cost efficiency in the future. Seeing this trend continue gives us confidence to build bigger and better. #entrepreneurship #datingapp #userdata #startup

I'm always so grateful for the love, support, kindness and advice I receive from other women in business. I can't express how heartwarming it is to know that someone else has your back and supports your dream. 🧡🧡🧡 My mission has always been to create fun and engaging questions and games that bring families closer together at mealtimes. It's the reason I started this business and it's what continues to drive me every day. But being honest, owning a small business can be a lonely and tough existence, but knowing that other women in business not only love my products but are willing to go the extra mile and support them, is just so heartwarming, it feels like you aren't doing it alone! Thank you again ladies for all your support. I couldn't do this without you. ❤️🙌 And the best part? I get to help families come together and create lasting memories Around The Table for a job!. 🥰 https://lnkd.in/eYbt8wqM And to all my fellow small business owners out there, keep pushing, keep hustling, and keep creating.
