This is where you identify complementary brands and organizations that can: - Benefit your company - Benefit their company - Benefit the attendees 2. Engage and Listen. Reach out to those potential sponsors and ask about their goals and initiatives. Have meaningful conversations to understand their needs. 3. Ideate Solutions. Based on these conversations, create tailored opportunities/activations that demonstrate how sponsoring your event can help achieve their objectives. Ever wondered what makes a great #sponsorshipproposal? It's very easy to fall into a pattern of 'cut and paste' but unfortunately this method isn't very effective. Continuing on from my musings last week, here's some advice on what makes a great #Sponsorship Proposal... THEME 3 - The key elements of a great sponsorship proposal ⭐️ Bespoke - develop a proposal that specifically addresses the goals and objectives of the organisation who you want to become a sponsor...sponsorship is not "one size fits all" ⭐️ Exclusive - don't make a sponsor feel like they have to fit within your organisation boundaries...develop the proposal that maximises the opportunity for your sponsor and supports their marketing plan ⭐️ Partnership - Sponsors are not just a cheque book. Sponsors are a valuable partner - make sure your proposal communicates this ⭐️ Say "Sayonara" to tiered packages - don't offer "gold", "silver" or "bronze" tiered offerings - this tells your sponsor that you haven't got the time to be a real partner and you are thinking more about your needs than your prospective partner's. Tiered sponsorship is inflexible, it forces you to focus on all the wrong things (like logos) and totally undervalues your sponsorship opportunity ⭐️ Offer a package that responds to your sponsor's needs - how can you help with brand building, product placement, growing their customers or supporting their role in thought leadership? ⭐️ NEVER simply list all the "hygiene benefits" - logos, websites, newsletter mentions, social media posts etc are basic hygiene benefits. Sponsors expect this stuff so they place little value on it. What are the #moneycantbuy opportunities you can offer - access to talent? competition fulfilment? activation opportunities? This is where the real value of your sponsorship is revealed Sponsorship is THE fundamental building block of successful event delivery and without positive sponsorship relationships that deliver for the event, the sponsor AND consumers, events can find it hard to be sustainable.
