Congratulations to our Managing Director, Graham Thompson on celebrating 20 Years at Agnew Group. 🎉 Graham is pictured receiving his award from Joe Rogers Managing Director, Bavarian. "This day 20 years ago I joined the Agnew Group after spending the previous 8 years in a few other roles within the motor/banking industry. I can honestly say that my time here has been hugely rewarding, I have met some amazing people, both colleagues and customers and many I would now regard as friends. I sought out my first job in a motor business that wasn’t advertising for anyone at that time but after multiple attempts to speak to the owner, he eventually met with me and subsequently offered me a position. Admittedly, I wasn’t paid mega bucks, but it was a job nonetheless and the first step on the ladder of my career. I went into an industry that I had a general interest in, my father was a car enthusiast and yes, as a kid, you would have found us on car forecourts kicking tyres and collecting car brochures. I could have recited the top speeds and 0-60 mph times of most vehicles on the market, certainly the ones of interest, and my product knowledge was probably better as a child than it is today. The “What Car” magazine could be found in our house opened at the stats section and that will be no surprise to some people. I could be divorced after this post, geek alert! Bear with me, what is the point of this post I hear you say? You often hear the question, what advice would you offer someone starting out on their career path? For me, it is about finding a job you are passionate about and a company you believe in, one that values and rewards your hard work and dedication. If you are lucky enough to tick these boxes, like I have, then I would encourage you to embrace that business and those people. You’ll find your job a whole lot more enjoyable and by default, progression should come easier than a job that gives you the “Sunday fear”. Here’s to the next 20 years 🥂"   

KB's Spotlight of the Week: Christian Garcia This is a long one, but a well deserving story. 5 years ago when I was tapped to manage an underperforming SMB team (they were 33% to quota in 2018 before I took over), I made Chris my first hire. Chris was an outside the box hire at the time. No sales experience, had a degree in education and at the time of his hire, he was a Senior Pediatric Fitness Specialist. My co-worker who sat next to me, Judith Hanzsche, made a suggestion that I talk to Chris. She just had this gut instinct that he was destined for sales. I owe Judith for life for this suggestion. After talking to him, I agreed, Chris was hired as an account executive. For the first 6 months, I told him to keep his head down and just put in the work. He listened to everything I showed him and then he put his own mark on the blueprint. Stepping up early as the first guy in the office and the last one to leave. The first year of building this team was not easy, a ton of ups and downs as we were building the plane as we were flying it. I kind of compare it to a start up business. A lot of my hires were people from outside the business and we were just trying to ramp them up as fast as possible. But, Chris to his testament stepped up as a leader. He started training the new hires and taking them out into the field. Showing them what I had taught him the year before. During this time Chris was promoted to a Senior Account Executive. That 33% to quota team became a 125% to quota team. Special shoutout to Ken Ober who patiently helped up build this powerhouse team over 3 years. One hell of a leader and just overall great person! Fast forward to 3 years after I hired Chris. I was tapped to take on the Enterprise Sales team in Philadelphia and needed to backfill my position. It was a no brainer, Chris would take over the team. Fast forward a year and a half later. Chris is going to President's Club with my old team because he killed it last year and brought on some outstanding new hires. I'm going to President's Club with my team from Philly because we killed it and special shoutout to Cory DePasquale for coming with me. In closing, I'm looking forward to having a celebratory drink in a few weeks with this gentleman in West Palm Beach to reflect on the last 5 years together. What we achieved together was one of my most proud accomplishments. Teamwork makes the dreamwork. Chris, I thank you for everything, you are one of the hardest working people I've ever met and an even better person. Without you by my side the last couple years, I don't know where I'd be. Thank you my brother!
