Don’t be a stranger… As cliché as that sounds, it did make me smile. Yes, I plan to follow them on all their social media platforms. Today, I received the best rejection mail I’ve ever gotten from a Nigerian brand, from the hiring team Moniepoint Nigeria. It wasn’t the usual robotic response that often makes it clear your application wasn’t thoroughly reviewed. Got one months back, that had me emailing the hiring team to say “I live in Abuja, and not Lagos”, as the rejection mail said they wanted someone in Abuja, and couldn’t hire me, because I lived in Lagos, presumably so. I lived in Abuja at the time and still do btw, so, imagine my shock, and that’s when it dawned on me that, they didn’t go through my application thoroughly and were in a haste to reduce application with whatever excuse available. But this email from Moniepoint? Definitely exuded so much, empathy and support, and I can’t lie, I’m impressed. I’ll definitely keep in touch. Shout out to the current hiring and communications team Moniepoint Nigeria, for taking the time to carefully review applications and put genuine effort into their rejection emails. The competition is tough, as they rightly pointed out. I know I’m qualified for the role and confident in my skill set, but this email made me pause and take another look at my CV—just maybe I didn’t present myself well enough. Still, I really appreciated this rejection mail. Anyone else receiving year-end rejections or acceptances? Don’t let it get you down. Take it in stride and move forward, okay? And, “Don’t be a stranger”, engage my posts when you can. ☺️
