I have searched for internships, Jobs, sent in numerous mails, still no luck!! Have you checked your CV? Here is a tip from the Lawrit Journal boot camp 4.0, Contents of a Good CV for such purpose: 1. Contact information. *Your Name. * Your residence (e.g Lagos, NG) * Phone number (adding your country code) * Email address (give an officially looking email and not something like hotboy4you@gmaill.🤭 2. Education. As an undergraduate. *The year you started to present. For example 2022-present. Avoid putting dates that you plan completing your degree. 3. Include previous work experience(s) if any. 4. Include volunteering experience (s), you see why it is important to volunteer yourself in meaningful and impact driven activities. However, A work CV is totally different from an Academic CV. 5. State potential prospects which you have that is needed in the firm/company, and this can only be known after a deep research has been made. 6. Potential skills you possess that is needed in such firm. A quick one, it is not totally advisable to add your picture in your CV, unless it is clearly stated in the requirements provided📌 And that's all for now, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section. Thank you for this session Lawrit Journal of Law X Mary Agaba

Yes, I once imagined myself living large in Ibadan, with a great job (even though there was no concrete offer). But life rarely follows a straight line, does it? Thank you to those who followed along in the last post. And to those just joining in, Welcome aboard! You might want to check my previous post for some context. Now, let’s rewind a bit. Did I mention I had worked for a Digital communication and Brand Consulting firm in Lagos right after leaving my Human Resource job. Yes, I had applied for the position of a development communication intern (zero experience), I went through the interview process and I was offered the job. This in its case was a Hybrid role which means finally, I get to dress up and say ‘I’m going to the office’. Don’t be confused, I had always been a remote worker. So it feels good to finally be able to leave the house and go to work. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. I left the job within 2 months (I will be sharing my experience soon). Let’s come back to me daydreaming about my life in Ibadan when I got another offer as an Executive Assistant to the CEO of a prominent company in Lagos. My well thought-out plans were not about to be disposed, but out of curiosity, I decided to accept the interview invite. I sailed through the initial stages and landed a face-to-face session with the CEO I will be working with. I wouldn’t say I had no skills, my previous roles has helped me in building some administrative skills and I had been opportune to manage people and also mastering the art of communication. The result? I got the job!! It was a full-time, on-site position, a whole new adventure. Fast forward almost 2 years into the job, I was moved to the position of the Assistant Head of Customer Relations/Communications Manager of the same company. This unexpected path has been a whirlwind of learning and growth. Stay connected as I continue to share the highs and lows of my professional journey. I would love to hear some of your experience, kindly share them in the comment section. #wednesdaypost #Linkedin #careerdevelopment #growth #professionaljourney

A while back, when I came back to Lagos, I knew exactly what I needed to do. Despite working in IT support in my previous role, I recognized that securing a teaching job or working in a school would be easier for me at the time. So, I packaged my resume with some relevant IT skills, and got a good offer in no time. Define your interest: Take some time to reflect on your interests and skills. - What kind of work environment excites you? - What problems are you passionate about solving? - Do you enjoy working with your hands, creating visual content, or analyzing data? Target your job search: - When searching for a job, forget the idea of just "any job." Unless, of course, you have special connections that you can leverage. - The best method is to niche down and develop relevant skill sets. - Then consider targeting internship or graduate programs offered by companies in different industries to gain relevant experience. Articulate your goals: The next time you connect with someone professionally, be prepared to confidently say: I'm currently looking for an opportunity in the [mention a particular field or industry], where I can utilize my skills in [mention relevant skill]. Remember, the right opportunity is out there, waiting for someone who knows exactly what they're looking for. #career #jobhunting #careeradvice #careerdevelopment #professionaldevelopment

Finally Got a PPA After 3 Months of Rejection 🎉 Am taking a moment to give myself a standing ovation for the hard work I put in👏👏. I'm literally typing this with shaky hands and the biggest smile on my face! 🥹 So my journey story is something every Corps member can relate to… Getting a Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in Lagos has been one of the most challenging experiences of my service year 😞 After getting several rejections from different companies, I almost settled for teaching at a school just to avoid extension. 😩 The struggle was real: - Trekking under Lagos sun 🌞 - Security guards becoming too familiar with my face - Spending transport money I didn't have - Watching my colleagues get accepted while I kept searching - Daily motivation from my mum's calls 😌 But God Came through 😌 Just when I was about to give up Boom 💥 A job offer came 😌. From a tech company which is an industry I had always wanted to work in. I'm beyond excited to announce that I've joined Zarttech as their Digital Marketing Intern! The company not only accepted me as a Corps member but also offered me a role that perfectly matches my career goal of going into “Digital Marketing” What makes this extra special? I'm achieving this milestone while serving my country as a Youth Corper! 🇳🇬✨ To every Corper still struggling to get a PPA: 👉Don't settle if you can push harder 👉Your rejection letters aren't final 👉Keep upgrading your skills 👉Network with other Corps members 👉Check LinkedIn jobs daily 👉Learn to reach out to your LinkedIn connection that works in a place you applied to. 👉Prayer + Action works! 🙏🏾 Special shout out to my amazing social media community, my friends Hilda Iduku, and Henry Mbachu, they have been my support system through this journey. Your tips and encouragement kept me going! 🫂 Am so excited to bring my experience in creating engaging content and building communities to the tech space. The adventure begins! 🚀 #CareerTransition #TechInNigeria #NYSCJourney #DigitalMarketing #SocialMediaManager #NewChapter #LinkedInNigeria #digitalmarketing
