Okay! I wanna clarify something about #MyStanceOnAIWriting* — [*In the context of “business writing”. Context matters, you know!] So, I’m not completely against the idea of business writers using AI. It’s kinda subjective matter but I'll try to be as specific as I can. I think it can be useful for research purposes, statistics, computations, or even things like Excel formulas and all — just the way we’ve been using Google for years. What crossed my tolerance level and got me like “enough is enough” was this: “The Freaking Toxic Narratives Around the Use of AI in Writing.” The narrative and FOMO some people (and brands) have been creating around the artificial importance of using AI in the writing process. Like — you’ll be out of business and die in a few years if you don’t use AI. I understand you wanna sell your tool, new AI-powered content features, or some AI writing course maybe — or you’re probably getting paid to sell those things with these narratives. But listen, I wanna say something again — Just go freak yourself. — #WriterByHeart 💙

✏ Just a friendly PSA for all of you otherwise smart, interesting folks who are messing this up! ✏ Writing Tip of the Day: It's versus Its! ✏ IT'S ironic that so many intelligent people fail to comprehend this grammar basic and ITS distinction. ✏ It's Rule: It's (with an apostrophe) is ALWAYS a contraction for "it is" or "it has." Examples: It's (it is) great that so many companies give their employees President's Day off. It's (it is) amazing that it's (it has) been sunny for five consecutive days. ✏ Its Rule: Its WITHOUT an apostrophe is a possessive pronoun like "his" or "hers" that refers to something not him/her. Examples: The dog wagged its tail every time his family came home. Tell me if you agree: If you don't have stakes Your story doesn't matter Because there is no tension. Stakes don't have to be huge. They don't have to be world-ending They can be as simple as Questioning personal integrity But the audience must Understand what the Protagonist Is willing to gain or lose And why that matters To the character and the reader. Is the character losing something Material, Emotional, Status, Identity a Relationship? A little behind the scenes anyone? My Friends Nicole Cowley & Debbie Prediger took up the challenge to answer & share some fun, and reflective questions and I was like - I LOVE THIS - and so I thought I would join arms and share a little here with you as well: The interesting part of this, as I answered these questions I can see just how much I myself have changed and grown the last few years - as 4 years ago - these answers would have been in credibly different...and that in and of itself was a fun and grateful gift of doing this! Things you may not know about me. Here we go 💃 1. 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗴𝗼 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁: Reading / listening to empowering / uplifting authors 2. 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱: “Perspective is reality” I have come to learn this advice should be reflected not only for others, but for ourselves just as much. 3. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱: long walks with my pup in Nature (with my Audible..lol) and no regard or stress as to how long it takes 4. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗹𝘆: The honesty of children and what they say! 5. 𝗠𝘆 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲: Black Forest Cake – a good one, not supermarket stuff. 6. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘂𝗽: Ignoring the "mental Chatter" and leaning into life without getting in it's way. 7. 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: Sitting in the morning sun with a coffee and watching the world just be…seeing the shape of clouds and the art of this planet wake up with me….photography, and writing Poetry. 8. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: What you give does not always come back to you from who you think it will – so if you give of yourself, give freely with no expectations and do it anyways. 9. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆: Half the time I have no idea what will be next, and I have learned to love it that way. 10. 𝗠𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲: A dance party and really loud music!
