what is your go to strategy on the Craps Table? do you bet on or against the shooter? do you play the field? do you throw down the hard ways? what about HIGH-LOW-YO? . Me personally... It depends on the day. In this Charity setting, I'll go all in on the riskiest bets for the biggest payouts.. lots of YO's and some lucky dice! . In the casino, I typically start conservative. a $5yo on the come out, minimum bet on the pass line and reasonable odds depending on where the button is and then the inside #'s.... before I know it. I'm depending on the shooter to win as I've got $77 on the table! . I'm enamored by those who bet against the shooter, but just can't do it. I also want the table to be enjoyable as there is a value to teh entertainment as gambling is not my profession. . I also have a hard time gambling on my assets. I am ok to pay an appropriate premium to transfer the risk away to the insurance company to protect myself from a large or total loss. At the same time, I am comfortable taking higher deductibles to reduce that premium as I know my safety and risk management in my business and personal life will keep my frequency down. . Underinsurance poses a risk to everyone, irrespective of income. But it has a disproportionate effect on HNW and UHNW individuals. In all the years, I have been working with professional footballers and valuing their watch collections. The one consistent thing is the undervaluing of special, limited edition and commemorative watches by unqualified non-professional valuers. The reason for this? They don't take into account the nuances of the watch. Often, they are just valued against the nearest standard production piece. But these watches are not standard pieces, where it is just the brand's desirability and availability that influence the value. Now, they are also a piece of sports memorabilia. Where the league, the club, and the competition or cup type will affect the value. So will the number of pieces produced, along with the player's brand. I have seen examples where watches have been undervalued by tens of thousands to even hundreds of thousands of pounds. All because the person valuing didn't know what they were doing. The boom in the watch market post-COVID has seen watches transition from timepieces to investments. Thanks in no small part to their portability, ease of storage, relative ease of sale with nominal fees and their exemption from capital gains tax. They have been seen by many as a good way of diversifying an investment portfolio. But unlike some other assets, watches can be insured against damage, loss and theft. So, should the worst happen, the situation can be rectified. Providing, of course, that you have a valuation that accounts for all of these additional nuances and an insurance policy that provides the correct level of cover. And as I watched Manchester City Football Club lift their 4th consecutive Premier League title yesterday. I wondered which watch will commemorate this milestone.
