Check the EPA’s Environmental Justice GIS system. Another great example of GIS for sustainability and resilience! There are a bunch of different layers you can toggle between, and they just added a drinking water quality layer. You can also search for your community (in the US) and get a report with most of the indicators, many of which show a comparison to state and national averages. Use this tool to learn about your community and to advocate for positive local change! Would love to see examples like this for other countries if y’all know of any :)

💧 What's in your water? 💧 Even if drinking water meets EPA guidelines for a given contaminant, it is important to remember: ❗Legal does not always equal safe❗ 🤔 So how do you know what contaminants you should be looking out for? 🛡 More importantly, how can you control those cotaminants once you know what they are? One great resource I use is EWG's tap water database (https://lnkd.in/gxKHjJ5Z). Simply input your ZIP code and a wealth of information from you water utility provider is at your fingertips, such as: 🚨 Types of contaminants detected in your water 📏 Concentration of contaminates found in your water 💡 Water filtration methods for reducing contaminants This provides a great baseline to know how safe your water is now, and what you can do to protect your health and safety if high contamination is present. 🗯 What did you find out about your water supply?
