Exciting news from Verily #StudyWatch research! Verily, Duke University, and Stanford University School of Medicine conducted a study, published in the Journal of Cardiac Failure, that provides evidence on the value of Verily Study Watch for potential improved health outcomes. The study investigated the association of digital walking measures with heart failure progression. Participants with subclinical heart failure had lower walking cadence and pace when compared to healthy or at-risk individuals. Francois Haddad, MD, Clinical Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford Medicine, explains, "The study proves that there is more to walking than the number of steps." The American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA) recently released a new clinical guideline for managing individuals diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Fellow CCF collaborators, Drs. Carolyn Ho, Seema Mital , Sharlene Day and Jeffrey Kim are among the authors. The updated recommendations for adult and pediatric patients are based on recent evidence about HCM treatment, including new pharmacologic management, recreational and competitive sports participation, and sudden cardiac death risk stratification, especially in pediatric patients.
