True leadership often involves resilience, creativity, and the ability to adapt to challenges. Strong leaders will find ways to navigate obstacles, inspire their teams, and achieve their goals, even in difficult situations. This mindset is what often sets successful leaders apart—they focus on solutions and persevere until they reach their objectives.

Bill Bellichek was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Nick Saban was his defensive coordinator. THEY WERE BOTH FIRED ‼️ Bellichek went on to win 6 Super Bowls. Saban went on to win 7 NCAA national championships. Bellichek and Saban were NOT the problem. The Browns front office and culture were the problem. Someones inability to value your gifts, does not diminish your gifts. Go prove them wrong 🔥

The Power of Partnerships - when great people work together backed by the combined resources and strengths of two great companies, the relationships and the success for both is greater.
During the Core and Main-Peoria Chiefs, baseball outing for customers and families, veteran Core and Main district manager, Randy Bradley, and I had a chance to chat about our 25 years of working together in the Eastern Missouri market. He’s one of the best. Plus he has one of the best group of sales folks in the business.

Championship teams have championship teammates. I am an old coach and love hearing sentences like this. Tony Vitello is the head coach of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville baseball team. They won the college world series last night in dramatic fashion. Their team has been #1 a good portion of the year and he is an extraordinary coach. Take a peek at your team. Whether you are winning or losing much of the reason is because of your teammates. When we hire here at The Mullings Group, we look for individuals that thrive at being on a team. People that love to practice and play - together. You can see it when people celebrate for someone else or support them when things do not go their way. It perpetuates our high retention rate and encourages others to want to join. What questions can you ask during an interview to determine if someone is a championship teammate? Ask for specific examples of times they were on teams personally or professionally. What was memorable about that experience? What role did each person play? See how much they speak about themselves vs the team. What did the team do well? Where were there areas for improvement? What were the teams' successes? How? What were the teams' disappointments/obstacles? Why? How did the team make decisions? What did you feel when you joined that team? What did you feel when you left that team? Wondering what impact this person had on the team during their time. All of this coming from a #Gator fan. Congratulations #RockyTop. #teamfirstsecondandlast #medtech #baseball Here is the clip:

Life lesson: It’s up to you to do what you can do to get things done. Today, since the Steelers didn’t take care of business during the season, we need some help! But, we true fans will cheer for our team, win or lose! (Also a life lesson: surround yourself with loyal friends who want the best for you!) Pittsburgh's playoff calculations are as follows: 1) Win at Baltimore + Buffalo loss at Miami OR 2) Win at Baltimore + Jacksonville loss at Tennessee OR 3) Jacksonville loss at Tennessee + Denver win at Las Vegas + Houston-Indianapolis does not end in a tie

A star at Mizzou. Drafted in the 2nd round. Benched in Denver. Traded to Seattle. Benched again. After three years as a backup, even last night, Drew Lock didn’t know if he’d play. He stepped in and led the Seahawks’ comeback win over Philly.

What a great interview and what great perspective. That type of attitude translates over from the playing field to the workplace almost seamlessly.

If you’re a law firm owner, partner, or head of the department, then you already know you can’t do it all on your own – you need a team. And you probably have one already. But have you built the right team around you? Football managers take a different approach to team management. So it's Superbowl weekend ... But I bet you don't know what the San Francisco 49ers did in 2017 (SEVEN YEARS AGO) that set them on the path to being in this year's National Football League (NFL) Superbowl. I'll going to be doing a deeper dive into this tomorrow, but here's a short version: 1. They started with Ambition. What kind of team did they want to be? What would they achieve? 2. Follow that with clarity on what they stand for. 3. And that also means being clear on what they wouldn't stand for (what they wouldn't tolerate.) 4. And then fixate on that. Make it a reality. Not just words on a page. The formula is pretty accessible to all of us. What are you doing with your team, to create the conditions for success? Check out tomorrow's post for the deeper dive on what they did, and how it propelled them to the biggest stage in US sports! ~~~ If this is helpful, share it with others and follow me /Russell Raath for more thoughts on being the best you can be.
