I specialize in guiding power and utilities organizations through their financial, accounting, and rates processes to achieve both financial success and exceptional service.
Mutual aid in the electric industry is what keeps the lights on in times of storms and wildfires. See my article in the Florida Municipal Electric Association's RELAY magazine (pg 24) on how mutual aid was key in restoring service in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. https://lnkd.in/gBq_vqa4

President @ Ground Force Humanitarian Aid | Data-driven disaster relief and humanitarian aid | 2016 Louisianian of the Year
Thank you Ed, we're disaster innovators, rethinking how we the public responds to disasters. We are able to show up and stay because of how we utilize social media and our brand and large social media following to storytell which results in donations and volunteers that keep us going. We are only growing in size, getting in faster and staying longer with each disaster. We're unknown outsiders to the vast majority of disaster professionals and it's understandable when they have spent a lifetime learning by responding and making it their career, where we have only been responding and learning for 7 years. But isn't that how changes come? Innovations always come from nowhere and often are looked at with trepidation and fear from the establishment. We have recognized that innovative approaches make us incredibly efficient and effective, it's inevitable that what we're doing is the future when we are able to turn $1 into $12. We funnel good meaning spontaneous volunteers with no clue how to help into a highly targeted workforce doing crisis relief work for those that need it most. Your adoption and quick understanding of who we are is only possible because you are a rare open minded trailblazer. Thank you for seeing what we see, a return to the basics of finding ways to accomplish the actual work to be done has to begin at some point.

During the mutual aid response to Hurricane Ian in Lee County, Florida I encountered an amazing group of citizen led disaster response volunteers called the Cajun Navy Ground Force and met their Founder and CEO Rob Gaudet and his Director of Donor Relations, Camille Gaudet . Together with their amazing volunteers paired up with AmeriCorps NCCC ,GroundForce was having an amazing impact in stabilizing the lives of the survivors on Pine Island. This was done by helping them with their essential needs like food, water, comfort and the clearing and drying out their homes so they could move back in and begin to rebuild their lives. Before Ground Force came, their homes were full of damaged furniture and walls growing mold and mildew, they were sleeping in tents or cars, desperate and losing hope and faith. Since Oct 22 I have followed GroundForce virtually to the Rolling Fork Mississippi Tornado, Maui, Hawaii Wildfire and as I write this post they are in the Big Bend of Florida doing what they do best for the survivors of Hurricane Idalia It’s groups like these that make a difference and go beyond what government alone can do! It’s important to stay prepared throughout hurricane season, your finances included. It’s a good idea to have emergency cash on hand for after a storm, as power outages and network disruptions can make it challenging to access: https://bit.ly/3LrQVgW.
