Bringing Flavours of Home To Patients. As we celebrate our 180th Founder's Day this month, we kicked off this milestone celebration with our first-ever staff culinary competition - Generations of Flavours: Nourish to Flourish. Staff competed to have their dish featured as a signature on the patient menu. Out of over 30 recipes received, 5 outstanding ones made it to the final cook-off. These dishes, inspired by family food heritage, aim to bring hearty and healthy dishes to our patients. Mentored by our chefs and dietitians, participants created nutritious and appetising meals, ensuring patients can eat well and recover better. This innovative one-dish meal is different from our typical patient menu, which usually includes separate servings of vegetables, protein and carbohydrates. A big congrats to Senior Cook Tan Kah Thai, who won first place with his "Ah Ma's Rice." This dish is a comforting spin on his mom's glutinous rice dumpling recipe, impressing the judges with its flavour and simplicity. Kah Thai wanted to share the flavours of home with elderly patients who can't eat rice dumplings yet missing this festive food. We can't wait for the winning dish to be included in our patient menu! Today marks the start of Culinary Arts Month! This month, we celebrate our amazing chefs and the incredible food they provide to our customers. To kick off the month, we're highlighting our hospital food. Hospital food? Why highlight something not known for innovation or flavor? Why does hospital food have a stigma? ▸ Lack of Customization ▸ Dietary Restrictions ▸ Limited Resources Here’s how we’ve changed the game and elevated hospital food: Trained Chefs and Certified Dietitians: Our chefs and dietitians craft each meal to balance flavor and nutrition. Our food looks good, tastes good, and makes people feel good. Tailored Culinary Solutions: We create a unique “brand” for each facility's cafeteria and a theme for the food based on the region. Comfort Through Food: Food can be a primary source of comfort for patients. There’s nothing like a delicious meal, especially when you need it most. Has hospital food ever surprised you (in a good way)? Share your favorite hospital meals with us in the comments! #CulinaryArtsMonth #OneHHS #HHSDifference

"Since the change to SmithKit, we have received a lot of positive feedback about the quality and taste of the meals, which is amazing!" Residential Aged Care Providers - With July 1st and the new Standard 6: Food and Nutrition approaching, are your menus full of dishes residents actually want? And are those meals delicious? 😋 Here's a snapshot of some recipes we have tested and added to SmithKit in the last week, including a couple of specific recipe requests from different Hospitality GMs working on their group's new seasonal menu. This makes it a lot easier for the teams to respond to feedback and cook meals. A system that supports good menu design is just one part of the solution. Easy access to good recipes that deliver variety and quality is essential. #SmithKit #MealQuality #ResidentialAgedCare #FoodandNutrition

The most profitable day for restaurants is Mother's Day. What customers are looking for on a Mother's Day menu: ☛ Does the presentation effectively communicate the meal concept? ☛ Is the description clear about what's being offered? ☛ Are there alternatives for dietary restrictions? ☛ Is it special? Since mothers like me prefer not to cook on our special day, I'd like sushi for Mother's Day. Not just any regular sushi. Where are you taking your mom to show your appreciation? Do you tell your mom that you love her?

Going to eat out has become a way of life. Dr A certainty looks forward to dining out with family and friends. After all, everyone needs and occasional hassle-free evening, pampered by great service with nothing to prepare or wash you can make this indulgence a healthy one as long a s you control your nutritional intake by following a few important guidelines! Watch for pitfalls! Look at dining out from the restaurant’s point of view. Restaurants are in the business of making money and keeping their customers happy so that can make more money they want you to come back and bring your friends. And fat, salt, and sugar sell. Questions to ask yourself: - How can I avoid being tempted by fast food restaurants (see Habits of Health, Part 2.8) - How can I eat better when I go to a restaurant? - How should I have them prepare my food when I go to a restaurant? Tune in for some answers!
