🚨 Please share if you can...there are so many children in need this Christmas and if just a few companies do this we can make a big difference 🎄The Giving Tree was created to be an alternative to the traditional Secret Santa by the charity Kids Out. 🎅 Instead of buying anonymous ‘joke’ gifts for colleagues, the Giving Tree encourages people to buy a toy for a disadvantaged child who might otherwise receive very little – or in some cases – nothing at all at Christmas. 🎁 Last Christmas the charity, Kids Out, were able to gift 77,803 toys to children, including 6,558 boxes of 10 brand-new toys to children who had fled domestic abuse and live in refuge. 🧸Plus a further 12,223 toys to disadvantaged children, who have life-limiting disabilities, are carers, or are affected by economic hardship. 💝 So if you are considering Secret Santa - why not try this instead. P.S. I have no interest in this other than I think it's a really wonderful idea

There's still time to give back to your local community this Christmas. 🎄🎅 As many of us head out to Christmas parties or travel to see family, it's a timely reminder that these are experiences out of reach for many people with disabilities and children in care. 📌According to the ACOSS/UNSW report 2018 'Poverty in Australia', just under 4 of the 10 Australians living in poverty have a disability. The report notes that these numbers are likely an under-estimate. 📌 One in five people with disability aged 15-64 feel socially isolated (double the rate of those without disabilities) and of the 5.5 million people in Australia living with disability, more than a quarter live in households where they're unable to leave their homes as much as they'd like. 📌 For children in residential care, the chance to develop hobbies, hang out with friends, or experience holidays like their peers are important in creating a safe and nurturing environment. Your support helps us make the dreams of Mackay locals come true and bring joy to those needing a helping hand. Every dollar helps. 👉 Click here to donate before Christmas morning: https://lnkd.in/ge6svR7e

Follow 'WEEN DREAM on Linkedin! For the past 10 years, WEEN DREAM has transformed the magic of Halloween into a reality for nearly 20,000 children across the United States. But this isn’t just about costumes—it’s about imagination, empowerment, and inclusion. Our amazing WEENSTERS, as we lovingly call them, face challenges far beyond what a child should endure. Many are battling illnesses that keep them indoors, navigating the uncertainty of foster care, overcoming disabilities, or living in financial hardship. For these children, a costume isn’t just fabric and thread—it’s a gateway to possibility. For a child who has spent months in a hospital bed, a princess gown can be a reminder that she is still royalty. For a little boy in a shelter, a superhero cape can give him the courage to face another day. For a child using a wheelchair, a custom-built costume can turn their chair into a rocket ship, a race car, or a chariot fit for a champion. Halloween is more than a holiday—it’s a moment where every child, no matter their circumstances, gets to dream without limits. It’s often the first time a child looks in the mirror and says, I could be an astronaut. A doctor. A firefighter. A warrior. And on this one special night, behind their masks, those dreams come to life. Providing costumes won’t save the world, but it will give a child hope, joy, and the belief that they are worthy of magic. It will remind them that they are seen, valued, and celebrated. And sometimes, that’s enough to change everything. 💜🎃✨ Because every child deserves a reason to dream. #halloween #costumes #charity #children #joy #fun #inclusion #creativity #imagination #spirit Website: ween dream.org Amazon Wish List: https://lnkd.in/g6FM3G2w Monetary Donations: https://lnkd.in/gTEJ4XXq Donate Costumes: https://lnkd.in/gfZ49V3t

Unless you see it up close, you can’t imagine how difficult it is for a parent to reunify with their kids who are in foster care. If you do see it up close, you know that parents are on their own after the system swoops in and removes their children. I have been a part of that system for over 30 years and made the decision to break out and create change through a new, brain-based case management model. With nothing but the proceeds from selling my camper, my husband and I started 4Sisters. Our Permanency Primers©️are experts in child welfare and have been extensively trained in this coaching model that is making a difference. How do I know it’s making a difference? Because parents are referring OTHER PARENTS! We are still new so the evidence gathering, but we see it every day. Through the recent award of an innovation grant by the Florida Deparment of Children and Families, we are evaluating the new model. We are restoring hope with every contact, which averages 10 per month per parent. As the saying goes, hope floats! What parents have now is this dismal statistic: less than 50% of children removed from their parents are reunified within 12 months as state and federal laws requires. Every bit helps us continue to move our new case management model move forward! Please INVEST in the future of families by INVESTING in us! ©️🩷
Good Monday morning, all! As we continue to recognize National Reunification Month, we are asking you to join us in helping to rewrite families' stories! 💗 We are breaking down one of the biggest barriers to kids returning to their parents from foster care! Make a difference with a simple click! https://lnkd.in/ehT5mFtQ or visit us at www.4Sisters.US to donate now! If you prefer Venmo, find us at @foursisters22 or Cash App is $4SistersSolutions A heartwarming THANK YOU for your support in helping us bring children HOME! 💙 #nationalreunifcationmonth #BringKidsHome #reunify #reunification #homeiswhereyourmomis #childwelfare #MakeADifference

Dear Foks, Today, June 12, 2024, marks the 25th anniversary of the #Child_Labour_Convention (1999). This year's #World_Day_Against_Child_Labour focuses on the theme "Let's act on our commitments: End Child Labour!" It's a crucial reminder of the ongoing struggle to eradicate child labor worldwide. As we commemorate this milestone, I urge all my connections to join me in taking action to combat this pressing social issue. Here are two ways we can make a difference: A. Individual Actions: 1. Raise Awareness: Share articles, videos, and personal stories about child labor to spread awareness and spark conversations. 2. Support Organizations: Donate to reputable organizations working to combat child labor and support their initiatives. 3. Make Informed Choices: When shopping, choose products made with fair labor practices and avoid those that may contribute to child labor. B. Community Actions: 1. Organize Events: Host or participate in local events, such as charity runs, bake sales, or fundraisers, to raise funds for child labor initiatives. 2. Volunteer: Offer your time and skills to organizations working to end child labor. 3. Advocate: Contact your local government representatives and express your support for #policies and initiatives aimed at eradicating child labor. Let's come together to make a difference and ensure that every child has the right to a #safe, #healthy, and #education_rich_childhood. Let's act on our commitments and end child labor!

At No Hunger Food Bank our mission extends far beyond providing nourishment to those in need. We recognize that vulnerability takes many forms, which is why our outreach efforts cut across all segments of the community - from the elderly to the disabled, the homeless to the unemployed. In these challenging times, when economic hardship and displacement have left so many struggling, every bit of support truly makes a difference. Whether it’s a donation of food items, a few hours of volunteer work, or simply sharing our message, each contribution helps us reach the most vulnerable members of society. The disabled community, in particular, faces unique barriers to accessing essential resources. Our programs are designed to be inclusive and accessible, ensuring no one is left behind. With your help, we can continue providing nutritious meals, essential toiletries, and a compassionate ear to the underserved in our community. Together, we can build a more equitable and resilient community, where no one has to worry about where their next meal will come from. Join us in our mission to support the most vulnerable, and help us create a brighter future for all. #nohungerfoodbank #vulnerablepopulations #disability #communitysupport

There exists an intersection at which the best interest of children—especially those in foster care--their parents, and their families run headlong into the powerful agendas of adults. Whether those agendas are political power, the next election, greed, what have you, these adult motivations are strong. Just beyond that intersection is one road the two must travel together. This means compromise. And as a result of compromise, what is best for children, their parents, and their families gives way becomes less and less ideal, less and less good for them, while the adults get to champion the compromise as personal success. The power imbalance between the two parties is greater than that of any other group (children don’t vote, don’t donate to campaigns, etc.). We need more people standing at that intersection and lending their power to children. The old ways aren’t working, and we need new, radical ideas if we want to see changes in the system.

This is an amazing initiative by KidsOut that runs out every Christmas. It is SO easy to participate in to boot. Details through link below but basically; 1. Fill in the form through the link (all very easy). 2. KidsOut will post you your Giving Tree tags. 3. Give a tag to all those taking part, or hang your tags on your office Christmas tree and let everyone take a tag of their choice. 4. Each tag has a child’s name, age, and the toy they would like from Father Christmas. Those taking part can then purchase a physical toy from online retailers or buy one from the Fun & Happiness shop on the KidsOut website. 5. When they have purchased a physical toy, they just have it mailed to KidsOut direct from the online transaction. Toys will then be packaged into a Toy Box and sent to a child in refuge ready to open at Christmas. These children REALLY need support and happiness at that time of year. PLEASE sign up. We at Secretariat and many of our friends have done it for years. It is SO simple and yet makes SUCH a difference. Thanks for taking the time to read. Please share if you care.

🥀Children have a remarkable capacity to help others, and their actions play a significant role in promoting kindness and compassion within society. Through acts of generosity, empathy, and friendship, children contribute to building a more compassionate world. Whether it's sharing toys with a classmate, comforting a friend who's sad, or participating in community service projects, these actions not only demonstrate their innate sense of humanity but also inspire those around them to follow suit. By engaging in these small yet meaningful gestures, children not only help those in need but also cultivate values that will shape their character and interactions as they grow. 🥀The impact of children's actions extends beyond immediate assistance, as their acts of kindness can ripple through communities and create a positive chain reaction. When children see others helping, they're more likely to be motivated to do the same, fostering a culture of caring and empathy. Additionally, their involvement in charitable activities helps them develop a sense of responsibility, awareness of societal issues, and a deeper understanding of the diverse needs of people around them. As they grow into adults, these experiences can lead to a lifelong commitment to making a difference and contributing to the betterment of humanity. In essence, children's efforts to help others not only directly benefit those they assist but also contribute to shaping a more compassionate and interconnected world for everyone. #HumanityMatters #SpreadKindness #BeTheChange #CompassionInAction #EmpathyMatters #TogetherForGood #MakeADifference #LoveAndServe #CaringCommunities #InspireHumanity #helpinghands #helpingothers
