1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses and environmental organizations united in their commitment to support both people and the planet. Each year, Hapatune dedicates 1% of its sales to charitable causes selected by each team member. This year, Kimo Sanderson, Hapatune’s Technical Director, has chosen to support the East Maui Watershed Partnership. The EMWP protects the east Maui watershed from degradation by caring for native forests and their component native species as well as educating the local community about conservation and other issues relating to watershed All told, they protect 100,000 acres of essential watershed forest in east Maui – 60,000 of which is critical habitat secured for over 100 rare and endangered plants and 13 native bird species. In their own words: Guardians does what others say “can’t” be done. That’s the same cloth I’m cut from — challenging the status quo, strategically going after what the planet and people really need, and steering clear of false solutions. In other words, Guardians likes to kick ass and so do I! - Hop Hopkins, Executive Director WildEarth Guardians guardians aspire to give a voice to natural landscapes and wildlife, as well as stand in solidarity with Frontline and Indigenous communities. W̱SÁNEĆ have had a sacred obligation to care for the land and waters since the beginning of time. These obligations were given to the W̱SÁNEĆ by XȺLS (the creator) and although limited, were fundamentally recognized through the creation of the 1852 Douglas Treaties. The ability to attract private land return opportunities is of particular importance to W̱SÁNEĆ because of high rates of private land ownership within W̱SÁNEĆ territory. This means there is very little land available for return through reconciliation processes with the Crown. The W̱SÁNEĆ Lands Trust Society (WLTS) furthers this goal by accepting donations of land to W̱SÁNEĆ, restoring land harmed by colonization to ecological balance, and accepting monetary donations to facilitate their work. Although the main goals of the WLTS are to help future generations of W̱SÁNEĆ access land for cultural purposes and to positively impact the environment through W̱SÁNEĆ stewardship, the WLTS will also seek land back for collaborative projects such as community housing and economic development initiatives. #LandBack #EnvironmentalStewardship #ResponsibleLandManagement #IndigenousStewardship #NaturalResourceManagement #Sustainability #Treaties #DouglasTreaty #FirstNations #Community #Collaboration #SustainableDevelopment #SustainableHarvesting #TruthAndReconciliation https://lnkd.in/egC-bHf8

Our whole hearts are with Los Angeles and Southern California as they continue to fight unprecedented wildfires. These fires account for 80% of the reforestation needs National Forest Foundation addresses, which underscores the urgent need for restoration. This increased urgency has deepened our commitment to supporting NFF through our Planting Hope for Tomorrow Fundraiser, knowing a significant portion of the funds raised will help NFF’s efforts to replant trees in national forests within the LA region and beyond. Working with the U.S. Forest Service, NFF focuses on restoring landscapes that burn at such high intensities that they cannot regenerate naturally. 🌳 Every $1 plants a tree, directly aiding recovery in areas that need it most. In partnership with the Harvard Extension School Global Development Practice Student Society and the Harvard Extension School Sustainability Student Club (HES3C) we’re proud to support these vital restoration efforts. 🔗 Learn more and donate here: tinyurl.com/HPlantsHope #CaliforniaWildfires #PlantingHope #Reforestation #TreePlanting #ClimateAction #CAWildfires #GreenFuture #NationalForests #Sustainability #losangelesfire ALT TEXT: A deer stands near a wildfire with flames and smoke in the background. The end of November marked the final Buffalo release of our 2024 season when three calves returned to their homeland on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Our preliminary count shows a total of 246 Buffalo were returned this fall. Final numbers will be announced in our 2024 impact report after the new year when all counts are confirmed. Many thanks to The Nature Conservancy, the Minnesota Zoo, and private donors for helping us continue to increase the numbers of Buffalo who are returning to Native caretakers. Tanka Fund’s mission is to return Buffalo to Native lands, lives, and economies. Through partnerships like these, we’re helping bring back a vital cultural and economic resource to communities across the country.
