Why this leader always inspires me. 👨✈️
Even in this very short conversation in the video, we find many valuable insights. I'll be sharing a few of them over the next few days.
First up: Why !!!!!
This truly captures how all employees in an organization can know why they exist, from CEO to Receptionist. That’s how they're able to see and work things like a startup. They see things from different perspectives but with one goal in mind!
Our team should know why we're doing, how we're doing, and what we're doing.

Over the years, I experienced employers at both ends of the trust & collaborate / control & micromanage spectrum…..
Hierarchies, fiefdoms, and silos = restrained collaboration, stifled imaginations, and suppression of innovation….. and endless sodding meetings run by the office ego-in-chief.

Ideas rule the world indeed. Organisations that thrive are the ones that allow great ideas to thrive. Employees that thrive are the ones who are allowed to make decisions and supported to be the best they can be in terms of their potential.

🌟 Who is accountable in your business for each function? 🌟
This is the key question we ask business owners when they're frustrated with their team results.
Often, the response is "Me and someone else" or even a whole department.
Steve Jobs shared in this video that having ONE person accountable for each function is crucial. This applies to all businesses, not just tech giants.

Avoiding micromanaging is crucial in leadership because it fosters trust, empowers employees, and encourages innovation. As Steve Jobs emphasized, teamwork relies on trusting others to fulfill their roles without constant oversight. Empowering employees to make decisions and evaluating ideas based on merit, not hierarchy, ensures that the best ideas prevail and good people remain engaged and motivated.
The micromanagers constantly asking for updates on where things stand and delegate not only what needs to be done but how it should be done and never being satisfied with the deliverables.
Team member eventually become fraustrated and resentful as their work is undermined at every stage and they have no autonomy over how to run an assigned project.
Because the team members skills and development on the job are stunted, the mircromanagent style of leadership is ineffective.
