Our children are on holidays, having benefited from tuition provided by teachers through the agreed curriculum by the Ministry of Education. Its safe to say they are full and saturated through the tuition program. Its within your jurisdiction as a parent to ask the child about their academic performance. One of the reason we take our children to school is because academic success is opens more doors and opportunities for further academic and social success. However, in view of the economic down turn, the ever increasing rate of unemployment, its no longer attenable to use history to motivate academic success of the child. We celebrate Teachers Day on Sep 5th, kids get some time-off, some of us wish each other, wish our teachers on social media, perhaps some take time out to visit their alma-mater as well - kudos to everyone who takes the effort. Having a particular day to remember Teachers is fine, but is it enough? Being a teacher is tough, one has got to be patient, kind, innovative, communicative, smiling, affable, knowledgeable, have the right attitude, be a mentor, the list seems endless. Starting from mothers and fathers to the kindergarten teacher who taught (dramatized??) Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, to the common unknown people who taught us day-to-day wisdom, to colleagues, bosses, friends, neighbours, everyone who has touched our life has been a Teacher - in their own way. When the student is ready the teacher will appear, and the when the student is truly ready the teacher will disappear. Such is the effort of a teacher! To prepare us not just for that one exam or certificate but impart invaluable lessons through it all - one just needs to see through it. On this occasion, my fond rememberances towards my parents, grandparents, friends, colleagues, the unnamed common man, and of course all the lovely teachers who I have had the privilege of learning 'under' and with. On a personal note, I have strongly believed that submitting oneself to your teacher is a very humbling and enriching experience, and the best way of imbibing what one can from their Teacher - it does not mean Do Not ask questions or accept/follow blindly - just means acknowledge that another person knows better and be willing to unlearn and re-learn - age and experience no bar. Day 16 Hurray 🎉🎉 Day sixteen is here, five more days to go💃💃💃💃 One beautiful characteristic of an early years teacher is being a super fun lover and an exciting person. This enthusiasm and zest for life will ignite a spark in your classroom which in turn will make learning an adventure for those super learners. As I write, I feel like doing some drama 😊😊 on this point. An early years educator will infuse joy into every lesson, turn mundane tasks into exciting discoveries, create an environment where curiousity thrives and laughter fills the air. One way to achieve this is through spontaneous action like dancing or story telling. You knów, children are very wonderful, the things that interests them and catches their fancy might look very insignificant to us but those are the things that helps you bond with them at the same time. Sometimes, I just do some funny things before my children and when they begin to laugh, in my mind, I'm like is this really funny but if it makes them happy, well, I will carry on.
