Though these videos are CGI creations, they are representations of real motor vehicle collisions that cause life changing injuries and heart breaking fatalities. An NBC news report last night focused on the alarming trend of excessive speed on both highways and city streets. The situations covered in this report provided numerous examples of speeds exceeding the listed speed limit by as much as 50 mph. While driver attitudes are clearly implicated as a cause for excessive driving speeds, preventing these behaviors will require a focus on enforcement and road design changes. Since Covid, rising tensions associated with social justice movements and declining law enforcement ranks traffic enforcement efforts are a low priority in many states and city jurisdictions. Highway and road designs that commonly provide long, wide, and straight motorways also encourage excessive driving speeds. Edmonton, Canada declared a Vision Zero Safety Plan in 2015 which included automated speed and intersection enforcement capability. Using automated enforcement and road design changes this campaign reduced traffic fatalities by 50% and traffic collision injuries by 30%. It’s time for our nation to step up and demand, support and appreciate Vision Zero Safety Plans that reduce diriving speeds in our communities, cities, and states.

Blind spot accidents are a serious issue that can cause injuries, fatalities and many other serious consequences. As an HSE professional, I am always looking for ways to prevent these accidents and promote a safe and healthy work environment. Here are some tips that I have learned from my experience and training. We should always check our blind spots before changing lanes, merging or turning. Use mirrors, turn signals and head movements to ensure that you have a clear view of the road and the traffic around you. Adjust your mirrors to minimize your blind spots. Be aware of the blind spots of other vehicles, especially large trucks and buses. These vehicles have larger and more numerous blind spots than cars, and they may not be able to see you even if you can see them. Avoid driving in their blind spots for prolonged periods and give them plenty of space when passing or following them. Use technology to assist you, but do not rely on it completely. Some vehicles have blind spot detection systems, cameras, sensors or other devices that can alert you of potential hazards in your blind spots. These can be helpful, but they are not foolproof and may not work in all situations. You still need to use your own judgment and skills to avoid blind spot accidents. Follow the Traffic Management Plan if you work at any construction site or work place. Educate yourself and others on the causes and consequences of blind spot accidents. Ask questions, clear your doubts. You can take courses, read articles, watch videos or attend seminars to learn more about this topic. You can also share your knowledge and experience with your colleagues, friends and family to raise awareness and prevent blind spot accidents. This video is an example. This helps to identify potential hazards ahead of time, as well as understand the actions that should be taken and those that should be avoided in an emergency. Road safety is a serious issue that deserves further attention. Excessive speed can result in difficulty controlling the vehicle, increase braking distances, and cause misjudgement of the distance and speed of other vehicles, which can exacerbate the impact of an accident. Overtaking at high speeds or in unsafe places can lead to frontal accidents with vehicles from the opposite direction or even with the vehicles involved. It was a huge loss for everyone😰 💡It's obvious, isn't it? You just need to be aware and follow the posted speed limit. When overtaking, calculate speed and distance carefully, and use signals correctly. Refrain from overtaking in potentially dangerous places, such as bends or areas with low visibility. Drivers should always consider the safety and security of themselves, passengers, and other road users. Avoiding excessive speed and using safe overtaking techniques are key measures to prevent avoidable accidents. 🤔 𝗢𝗻 (𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆) 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀... 🙄 All in all (beside this being apparently a joke or what?), a system that tries to solve an issue 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 - in my personal opinion at least. 1️⃣ If the concern is, that someone climbs over a fence, why 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲?* 2️⃣ Also, if someone can step over the fence in the area of the crosswalk, 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲? 3️⃣ What's the purpose of having a traffic light, crosswalk and automatically moving fences all together? When the fence is up but the light is red, 𝗜'𝗺 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁? * If we go by that, the 1400mm from 𝗜𝗦𝗢 𝟭𝟯𝟴𝟱𝟳:𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵, 𝟰.𝟰 would not be sufficient from my view.
