“It’s not pick the player, it’s pick the best players that are incremental to one another.” Brendan Roeschel, VP Retention + CX at Fresh Clean Threads, is focused on building a suite of tools to help maximize his golden metric of lifetime contribution margin (LTCM). According to Brendan, there’s two key ways to do that: - Increase repeat purchase rate - Grow average order value That's where Retention.com comes in. Their software helps Shopify merchants recover lost shoppers and increase Klaviyo flow revenue by 2-3x. The higher the LTCM, the quicker Brendan can pay back acquisition costs. Brendan runs tests with various tools like Retention.com to identify where there’s redundancy and where there’s incrementality. What he found? For tools that might seem like head-to-head competitors, Fresh Clean Threads uses both because the ROI and business case are there. I've made it a habit to serve a few of our ICPs by myself each month. Our current ICPs have a GMV of under $200M, – we're focused, not sprawling. 🎯 Staying close to our users is crucial to ensuring our product development stays on the right track. Here are some key takeaways from my experience on the front lines: 1️⃣ Inbound Sales are Vital: The official website and demos are key channels. LinkedIn is also important, but we're still novices here, which is a bit of a regret. Large customers won't switch to our product just to save $20 a month. Amidst the global economic challenges, they care about business continuity. Assign dedicated staff to provide demos when they're needed. 2️⃣ From Passive to Proactive Service: Being reactive is just the baseline. To truly WOW them, take a proactive approach. Analyze your product data, inquire during demos, use tools like Storeleads, or directly review the storefront to identify merchants' potential needs. Then, offer targeted feature suggestions, especially if they're using platforms like Klaviyo, Gorgias, or Yotpo – common among Shopify Plus merchants. Recommend your integrated solutions. 3️⃣ Ease of Use is Key: Even for Shopify Plus stores, it's rare to have a dedicated expert in every niche. Consider the vast array of specialists needed for a truly comprehensive approach. Highlight the product's value and features prominently for quick understanding. 4️⃣ Flexible Pricing for Complex Needs: Large clients often have more complex scenarios. Offer them a pricing plan that fits their needs without overcomplicating it. I wholeheartedly agree with Eoghan McCabe, the CEO of Intercom: simplicity in pricing plans is paramount. Everyone is always how much new customers they bring in. - John hit his first 200K month - Sophie’s ads are performing beter than every before - Joe got his 50.000th order But why does nobody talk about recurring customers? Great brands don’t see their customers as just an order on their Shopify dashboard. Great brands: - Only sell products that deliver value to the customer - Go that extra mile for customer experience - Make a one time customer a life time fan You will achieve your first €25K month by putting sales first. But you will only reach €250K months by putting your customers first. Stop selling products, start helping customers.
