Michael Narvey, I was a site Co-PI for this study in Colorado. One of the driving factors for performing this study is that up to half of ELBW babies do not get the benefit of delayed cord clamping-- which most believe is beneficial for this population. Many ELBW neonates do not breathe well enough on their own at birth to get delayed cord clamping. By assisting breathing and ventilation in this population, more ELBW babies could get delayed cord clamping. I think that one must consider how delayed cord clamping is being performed at their institutions-- and the impetus to clamp quickly (or not) for a baby not breathing well needs to be considered when evaluating studies such as this Ventfirst study. Thanks for highlighting our study. #UsingWhatWeHaveBetter

This Norwegian study aimed to estimate the risks of childbirth in a maternal myasthenia gravis cohort based on nationwide data from the Medical Birth Registry of Norway. Jenny L V Lindroos presents in this MEDtalk the study, showing that the risks for elective cesarean section and induced labor were increased, but not for emergency cesarean section. Only a few myasthenia gravis-exposed children had transient neonatal myasthenia gravis, but a large group of the children were referred to a neonatal ward. 🔗Stay updated on EAN: https://lnkd.in/dzTEGiny European Academy of Neurology #EAN24 #Neurology

🤩 New Publication Alert!🤩 We are excited to share our latest research titled: "Delivery Mode after Cervical Ripening in Patients with No Prior Vaginal Births." We explored how using a balloon catheter for cervical ripening affects delivery outcomes in two groups: 🫃🏼First ever trial of labor 🤰🏾First trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC) 💛 We found SIMILAR VAGINAL DELIVERY RATES in both groups 💛 This study shows that with balloon catheter for labor induction the vaginal delivery rates are similar in patients who had no prior vaginal births, with or without prior C-section. 💛 dana vitner 💛 Ola Gutzeit #Obstetrics #LaborInduction #TOLAC

Radiological considerations during pregnancy demand meticulous evaluation. This comprehensive guide delves into the safety profiles and nuanced risks associated with various imaging modalities: MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and X-rays. 1 MRI: Generally considered safe, but avoid gadolinium contrast during the first trimester. 2 Ultrasound: Widely used for fetal assessment; no known adverse effects. 3 Nuclear Medicine: Limited data; minimize exposure, especially during organogenesis. 4 X-rays: Shield the abdomen; limit exposure; use lead aprons. Always consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice tailored to your specific situation. 👩⚕️ #PregnancyHealth"
