Connecting Solar Batteries in series and parallel from our Solar Installation Manual Similar to solar panel connections, wiring your batteries in series will increase the voltage of the battery bank while keeping the same energy capacity (Ah) of the battery. To connect your batteries in series, you must wire the positive terminal with the negative terminal of the other battery. On the other hand, a parallel connection consists of joining the positive terminal of one battery with the positive terminal of the second battery and the negative terminal of the first battery with the equivalent negative terminal of the second one. This connection maintains the voltage of the battery set but increases the energy capacity of the battery bank in Ah. It is important to use both terminals of the outer batteries as the main terminals instead of the terminals of one battery. PV systems have emerged as a sustainable and renewable energy solution, harnessing solar power to generate electricity. However, like any electrical system, PV setups are subject to various factors that can affect their efficiency and performance. One such factor is voltage drop, a phenomenon that can significantly impact the effectiveness of a PV system if not properly managed. Voltage drop (VD) is the loss of voltage in a circuit due to the resistance in the electrical circuit. To determine the amount of voltage lost in a circuit, we need to look at three parts: 1. POOR CABLING IN SOLAR ENERGY Years back when I joined Renewable Energy Sector ( Solar) I didn't know cables are highly significant in Solar designing. Over the years I have come to realize that proper cable sizing is a major factor to consider during Solar design . Cables are as important as Battery, Inverter and Charge Controller. Under sizing of cable can lead to the following; 1. Damaged Battery, this occur because the cable is too small to carry the need current needed to charge the Batteries. 2. Under performance of Solar Setup, when batteries are not well charged, the Backup time is reduced. 3. It can lead to fire out break in some cases .
