In a session titled, #AI to Enhance Last Mile Delivery Experience, Shadowfax Co-founder & CTO Vaibhav K., shadow highlighted the challenges of last-mile delivery and the need to create an optimal experience not only for consumers but also for delivery partners. “AI holds the potential to enhance the delivery experience, not only for customers but also for delivery partners, and could be a game-changing tool to revolutionize the supplier-consumer relationship,” said Vaibhav. I was just puzzling out with a colleague how #GenAI changes customer support functions within telecoms operators. This prompted the below thoughts: The use of AI in customer service is not new, but the advent of generative AI could revolutionize the industry. It promises 24/7 support, the ability to handle multiple queries simultaneously, and significant cost reductions - a tempting proposition for low-margin businesses. However, as with any technological advancement, there are potential pitfalls. If customers perceive the quality of service to be inferior, it could lead to dissatisfaction and a potential counter-trend - a scenario reminiscent of the ‘on-shoring’ counter-trend of the 2010s that followed the ‘off-shoring’ trend of the 2000s. Interestingly, this could open up opportunities for premium service providers. By offering 'VIP access' to human customer service agents (still empowered by AI tools), some operators could differentiate higher tiers of their services and cater to customers who value a more personalized experience. As we navigate this exciting landscape, it's clear that finding the right balance between cost efficiency and maintaining high-quality customer service will be key.
