Each March, as International Women’s Day rolls around, we three find ourselves rolling our eyes and thinking ‘enough of the placards and platitudes’. It’s true that the last wave of feminism lifted many up. But in some ways, it’s kept us frozen in a fight that’s stopped us moving forward. Despite the rise of women into positions of power in many parts of the world, the stats never improve enough to warrant celebration. We feel hope, but it’s false hope. We eat fried sausages or branded cupcakes, go back to work and nothing changes. We’re DONE with a tick-the-box approach to women in business. Whether it’s IWD breakfasts with great speakers but no change, or the mentoring programs that lift motivation but create little movement, we’re calling it out. IT’S NOT WORKING. It’s time to change not just the conversation, but what we do about it. We believe it’s time for a quantum shift for women. That’s why we started The Oyster Sisters and launched our Inner Shell community. We’re here to coach, champion and cheerlead women to untether from the binds that have kept us small, unshackle from the expectations that have cost us joy and quit playing the game the way we’ve been told to play it. Having worked as coaches and speakers to millions of women globally, we notice how many are depleted because they’ve armored up in ways that have become too heavy to hold. We’ve observed women: - Pushing to keep pace and sacrificing peace for the sake of so-called success - Hiding their true gifts, genius and greatness for fear of being taken down - Comparing themselves to each other and believing they’re lacking - Tangled in pleasing, perfecting and performing, burning out and drowning in self-doubt, blame or bitterness. We’ve seen this play out for other women, but we’ve also been there and overdone all of it ourselves too. Of course, we’re grateful for those who fought the good fight; protesting about glass ceilings and demanding rights. But in the messy middle of our own midlife breakdowns, we started getting curious about the way forward for women. We asked: - What if it’s time to drop the armour and let go of the old fight? - What if it’s time to stop playing the game the way it’s always been played? - What if it’s time to rewrite the story of success in our own words? To reframe feminine power on our own terms? To reclaim our right to choose our OWN adventures? We believe it’s time for a breakthrough. We know there’s a new way for women to rise, and we’re here to show women how. Here are three things to do, right now, if you feel similarly and are ready to take action: 1. Tell us: What are YOU done with? What changes are you raring to see? 2. Read about our Inner Shell at theoystersisters.com and join if it feels right to you 3. If you have a group of women in your workplace ready to flourish in their power, email us at hello@theoystersisters.com With love + fierce hope, Taryn Brumfitt, Dr Gemma Munro 🎤 & Mia Handshin The Oyster Sisters 🦪
