Each March, as International Women’s Day rolls around, we three find ourselves rolling our eyes and thinking ‘enough of the placards and platitudes’. It’s true that the last wave of feminism lifted many up. But in some ways, it’s kept us frozen in a fight that’s stopped us moving forward. Despite the rise of women into positions of power in many parts of the world, the stats never improve enough to warrant celebration. We feel hope, but it’s false hope. We eat fried sausages or branded cupcakes, go back to work and nothing changes. We’re DONE with a tick-the-box approach to women in business. Whether it’s IWD breakfasts with great speakers but no change, or the mentoring programs that lift motivation but create little movement, we’re calling it out. IT’S NOT WORKING. It’s time to change not just the conversation, but what we do about it. We believe it’s time for a quantum shift for women. That’s why we started The Oyster Sisters and launched our Inner Shell community. We’re here to coach, champion and cheerlead women to untether from the binds that have kept us small, unshackle from the expectations that have cost us joy and quit playing the game the way we’ve been told to play it. Having worked as coaches and speakers to millions of women globally, we notice how many are depleted because they’ve armored up in ways that have become too heavy to hold. We’ve observed women: - Pushing to keep pace and sacrificing peace for the sake of so-called success - Hiding their true gifts, genius and greatness for fear of being taken down - Comparing themselves to each other and believing they’re lacking - Tangled in pleasing, perfecting and performing, burning out and drowning in self-doubt, blame or bitterness. We’ve seen this play out for other women, but we’ve also been there and overdone all of it ourselves too. Of course, we’re grateful for those who fought the good fight; protesting about glass ceilings and demanding rights. But in the messy middle of our own midlife breakdowns, we started getting curious about the way forward for women. We asked: - What if it’s time to drop the armour and let go of the old fight? - What if it’s time to stop playing the game the way it’s always been played? - What if it’s time to rewrite the story of success in our own words? To reframe feminine power on our own terms? To reclaim our right to choose our OWN adventures? We believe it’s time for a breakthrough. We know there’s a new way for women to rise, and we’re here to show women how. Here are three things to do, right now, if you feel similarly and are ready to take action: 1. Tell us: What are YOU done with? What changes are you raring to see? 2. Read about our Inner Shell at theoystersisters.com and join if it feels right to you 3. If you have a group of women in your workplace ready to flourish in their power, email us at hello@theoystersisters.com With love + fierce hope, Taryn Brumfitt, Dr Gemma Munro 🎤 & Mia Handshin The Oyster Sisters 🦪

We Have Already Redefined the World—and We're Being Pushed Back For centuries, women have been rewriting the rules. We’ve challenged conventions, shattered glass ceilings, and with each generation, we've made our mark on the world. From the suffragists fighting for the vote to the women leading social justice movements today, we’ve been redefined time and time again. Yet as we stand taller and bolder, there's resistance. Men who fear our strength, systems built to keep us in our place, and structures designed to hold us back—none of them have managed to stop us. But here's the truth— they can’t stop us. We’ve already redefined what it means to be a woman in this world. And now, we are living in a time when that very strength, that power, is being seen, felt, and resisted in ways we haven’t experienced in decades. There’s a reason the pushback is happening. Because the men who’ve built systems on our backs, who’ve benefited from our labor and our silence, see us. They feel the power we’re reclaiming, the space we’re taking up, and they don’t know what to do with it. They are terrified of what we are becoming. But they have no idea who they're up against. The world is finally seeing us. Not as the caregivers, not as the nurturing women who live in the background. But as the powerful creators of change we’ve always been. We are women of wisdom, of action, of unstoppable force. We are not just survivors of patriarchy; we are thriving in the face of it. We are reclaiming our rights, redefining our roles, and amplifying our voices louder than ever before. In every corner of the world, we are standing together, lifting each other up. From the boardrooms to the streets, from politics to art, from the sciences to the home—we are everywhere. Our movement is everywhere. We know that when we connect, when we gather, when we collaborate—there is nothing that can stand in our way. They’ve tried to divide us, to pit us against each other, to make us doubt our own worth. But no more. Because we know the truth: our strength is in our unity. Women’s power has always been hidden in plain sight. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/geuGxKqn

Dear Fearless Women, As we stand on the edge of a new era, basking in the glow of our collective strength and wisdom, it’s time for us to fully embrace the incredible power we hold. We’ve journeyed from being treated as commodities in a world ruled by men to becoming the radiant forces we are today. I know stepping into this light and owning our value can feel like trying to dance in the middle of a crowded room—exciting yet a bit daunting. But let’s face it, we’re not here to stumble over our own feet; we’re here to own the floor! Our path to empowerment isn’t a solo act; it’s a collective dance where we need each other’s support and encouragement. Picture this: a parade where each of us is not just part of the crowd but the entire spectacle. That’s the kind of power we’re harnessing, and it’s time we shine our brightest. Finding strength in sisterhood is where the magic happens. There’s nothing quite like having a squad of powerful women by your side. Let’s be each other’s cheerleaders, celebrating victories big and small, and lifting each other up through every challenge. We’re an unstoppable force when we unite, and together, we can move mountains. As we step forward, let’s do so with love. Our empathy and compassion are not weaknesses; they’re our greatest strengths. We use them to foster genuine connections and drive meaningful change. Love is a potent tool for equity, and we wield it with grace and intention. Our voices are mighty instruments for change. By championing respect and equality, we influence the world around us. Every word we speak and every action we take has the power to ripple out and inspire others. Remember, even the smallest act of courage can spark significant transformation. Now, with the Presidential election on the horizon, let’s seize the moment to make our impact. Voting is not just about selecting leaders; it’s about shaping the future and ensuring our voices are heard where it matters most. Think of it as adding your own vibrant hue to the canvas of democracy. Your vote is a declaration of our collective strength and a pledge to a future where every woman’s value is honored. So, let’s get out there and vote! This is our chance to be the change-makers, the trailblazers, and the voices that drive us towards a more equitable and brighter future. We’re already a beacon of light, and with each vote, we amplify that brilliance. Let’s continue to shine and shape the world with our unwavering spirit. With all my heart, Ginger Randall

Women supporting women is a phrase we hear often, but what does it actually look like in practice? It can be as simple as listening to a woman who’s going through something and just being there. It can mean holding a woman accountable when her actions don’t align with who you know she truly is. It’s cheering for another woman in your industry, even when she’s doing the same thing as you because you genuinely want her to succeed too. Support can also be practical, like getting up during a business meeting to help a mother with small children, opening the door for her as she struggles with a buggy and a crying child. It can be checking in on a neighbour who seems down or picking up the phone to call a friend just to see how she’s doing. It’s about giving without expecting anything in return. At the event I attended, I saw firsthand what it means to truly support other women. Watching women cheer, create space for, and uplift one another was powerful. One of the most moving moments was seeing Lucienne Shakir (MEd) stand on stage with these incredible women, then step back, turn around, and clap for them. If you are looking for this for you then learn more here https://lnkd.in/eTHUm5y7 That simple act was a profound demonstration of women supporting women. Some might wonder how to do this when life is so busy, or they may feel unsure about how to start. But I believe it comes down to intention. When you decide to be intentional about supporting other women, you naturally start looking for opportunities to do so. If we want to see real change, we need to be that support for each other. And as you’ll see in the video, it wasn’t just women who were part of this movement. There were men too, cheering and supporting the women around them. It was wonderful to see the support of Louis Devayya in a sea of women at this event. His presence reminded us that supporting women is a collective effort.

#womenhistorymonth This month of March, “is an honorary observance to recognize and celebrate women for their contributions throughout history and today.” And every March 8th, we observe #internationalwomensday, an annual UN campaign to promote efforts for and on behalf of women. This year’s theme is “Inspire Inclusion”. As a woman CEO, working in a highly competitive Fintech industry, I could relate and share my own decades-long perspective about the role of women, the challenges, opportunities, especially about women empowerment that remains critical in all aspects of our society. I will, however, deviate a little bit from this month’s campaign theme, and share a more personal perspective, one closer to home. Indeed, we have so many women in our history who were game changers. They carried the torch in paving the way, despite and in overcoming difficulties and opposition. I would like to cite one such woman. She is totally unassuming, simple, funny, kind of an introvert, sort of an entrepreneur who tried to ran a small retail store twice, instead focused on being a homemaker, eventually a “stay home”mom up to this day. She married when she was barely nineteen, eloping with a man she has been totally devoted for more than 60 years and still counting. This woman raised four children, with no nannies or full time help. She has 8 grandchildren and still looks far younger than her age. During the past three years, her quiet and simple life has taken an unexpected turn…. Her husband who took care of everything, finances and otherwise, who took charge the past 60 years, who made all major decisions throughout their lives together… slowly and painfully started forgetting things. In three years that he had the onset of #alzheimers, this woman evolved and transformed dramatically. With sublety and tenacity, she started taking in the reins. She started managing the finances, the household, but more importantly, she became his primary caregiver. She is at his side, almost 24/7. This woman’s commitment and devotion to her husband, manifest beyond what love is. In fact, it proves that when faced with challenges and obstacles, a woman’s #strength is most evident. It becomes inherent and a defining moment during times of such adversity. #Aging is inevitable and sometimes it is cruel and unkind. There are so many families with parents affected with this situation. It is a reality that we have to accept and in the long term, manage as best any family could. I’m fortunate to have this incredible woman in our lives. This woman is my mother who is at the helm now, looking after my dad. She is our strength, our rock. She is an inspiration for me, for my daughters, for other women, young and old whose quiet strength is tested in many ways. When her #leadership translates to taking action especially when it matters. She is making it work beyond her 80 years. #gratefuleveryday

It’s been a heavy month, and in truth, the past year has brought challenges that have left many of us feeling weary, even disheartened. In times like these, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by uncertainty and change. As we pause to reflect, we want to acknowledge this weight — the moments when resilience feels tough and hope seems distant. Yet, as we reflect, we are also reminded of a quiet but unbreakable truth: women supporting women is a light that doesn’t dim, even in the darkest times. Whether it’s lifting up our friends, inspiring our daughters, or making space for each other in the boardroom, our solidarity is a powerful, enduring source of strength and hope. As we move forward, let’s lean into that strength together and remember that it’s okay to feel the weight of what we’ve been through. Progress isn’t always easy or immediate, but together, we’re creating spaces where every woman’s voice is heard, every girl’s dreams are lifted, and every challenge we face brings us closer. The future may still feel uncertain, but we know this: we’re building it side by side, and the road ahead will be brighter because we’re walking it together.
