🛑 Another executive order titled "Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid" signed on January 20, 2025, introduces a 90-day pause on all U.S. foreign assistance programs. This pause is meant to assess the efficiency and alignment of these programs with the current administration's foreign policy goals. For Afghans, this could mean a temporary halt in U.S. aid, which might impact various humanitarian and development projects in the country. Additionally, the EO could potentially delay relocation and resettlement for our Afghan allies of all immigrant (SIV and IV) and refugee pathways. The final decision on whether to continue, modify, or cease assistance will be made after the 90-day review period, based on recommendations from the responsible departments and agencies. All of these impacts are subject to change. We will continue to share updates with you as we receive them. Many advocates continue to speak with the highest levels of USG. https://lnkd.in/gv2C_JHm
We, Afghan refugees and USRAP case holders, respectfully request that Mr. Trump reverse the suspension of this program. This decision has left us stranded and exposed to grave dangers. Many of us risked our lives to support U.S. missions.
