In today's world, financial inclusion is more than just a buzzword. It's a crucial step towards empowering our youth. Financial inclusion means giving young people access to the tools and resources they need to manage their money effectively. It's about providing opportunities to learn, grow and build a secure financial future. Education is key. By teaching financial literacy, we help the younger generation understand budgeting, saving, investing and responsible credit use. This knowledge equips them to make informed decisions and avoid common pitfalls. Access to banking services is equally important. With inclusive financial products and services, young people can open bank accounts, start saving, and even begin investing, all from an early age. Digital banking tools make managing money easier and more accessible, allowing young people to track their finances and make transactions with just a few clicks. Financial inclusion also supports entrepreneurship. Access to credit and financial advice can turn ideas into reality, fostering innovation and economic growth.

If you're wondering whether a summer internship is truly necessary to break into investment banking, then the answer is yes! 🤔 Securing a summer internship during your junior year is crucial because it often leads to full-time offers.
The problem is, you have less time than you think! 😨 For example, recruitment for 2027 grads (2026 summer internships) kicks off next semester (Fall 2024) 🤯 So, you have to prep early!
If you want guidance through any part of it, you should check us out.
📩 DM us your email, and we'll get you added to the WSO Academy waitlist to try to get you into one of our summer cohorts.

Did you know that a key component of our DC Internship Curriculum is financial literacy? Prior to starting their internships, interns learn financial literacy basics to prepare them for making smart money decisions for their futures. We believe that a huge indicator of early career success is having accessible financial literacy knowledge, tools, and resources. #BroadFutures#FinancialLiteracy#FinancialWellness#EarlyCareer#CareerSuccess

Securing a summer internship during your junior year is crucial because it often leads to full-time offers later on 👩💼 But here's the problem: you have less time than you think ⌛
🎓 For example, recruitment for the 2027 graduating class (2026 Summer Internships) kicks off next semester (Fall 2024). 🏃 So the sooner you jump in, the better your chances.
😔 Now, here's another challenge: keeping tabs on tons of banks when internship applications open. 😎 That's where our free application tracker comes in handy!
📥 Shoot us a DM with your email to hop on the WSO Academy waitlist. ✅ Just remember to submit your application first to get the tracker.

Let’s talk about the differences between a traditional internship and The Externship.
I created The Externship in 2020 to help aspiring financial planners who had their internships canceled due to the pandemic.
So why keep The Externship going after 2020?
Because we heard about (and saw for ourselves) the unique benefits of this program! So many Externs told us how much they…
- appreciated being able to learn at home on their own time.
- enjoyed hearing from several different financial professionals.
- could not feasibly take part in a traditional internship because of full-time jobs or caretaking responsibilities
- learned by completing homework assignments pulled from real client scenarios.
- loved earning 180 CFP Board Standard Pathway experience hours over the summer.
There are many aspiring financial planners who don’t have the opportunities or means to complete an internship. But they can get hands-on experience, mentoring, training, and official experience hours on their own terms!
That’s why we keep offering The Externship — to support as many people as possible.

As summer comes to an end and school resumes, balancing academic internships with coursework can be challenging. In our newest Intern Insider blog, we dive into how interns are turning their real-world experiences into academic and career growth. Discover their strategies for success: https://lnkd.in/gwAF37fG 📚✨
Happy National Intern Day!
Internships are more than just a stepping stone; they are a way of giving back and helping aspiring professionals choose the right career path. Today, I want to reflect on the importance of internships and share my personal journey.
During my undergrad time, I interned with multiple businesses in real estate, banking, construction, call center startups, and business consulting. Each experience provided me with valuable insights and helped shape my understanding of various industries.
One memorable internship involved working with a CPA on a groundbreaking project for the first credit card in Japan. My role was to recreate all the financial statement projections for the first five years—a six-month endeavor that taught me invaluable lessons. While I discovered my passion for working with numbers, I realized that my true calling was to work directly with people, rather than just crunching numbers in the background.
Internships provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between the academic world and the real world. They allow individuals to gain practical experience and set realistic expectations of what a financial planner's role entails, and vice versa.
To all the interns out there, your journey is just beginning, and the experiences you gather now will shape your future in incredible ways. Embrace every opportunity, learn from every challenge, and always strive to connect your academic knowledge with real-world applications.
Today is National Intern Day, and we want to celebrate the invaluable contributions of our intern, Sydney Chapman. She shared her experience interning with North Texas Wealth Management this summer. Sydney describes her time at NTWM as a tremendous learning opportunity, as she gained practical experience in meeting with clients and applying academic knowledge to real financial situations.
Internships like Sydney's not only provide hands-on experience but also offer fresh perspectives and foster a collaborative learning environment. As Sydney prepares to return to college, we are grateful for her dedication and the skills she has developed during her time with us.
