The current industrial food system is maladapted and is stuck in unfounded beliefs about technology and free markets. A bottom-up alternative is emerging: "Across the continent, farmers and citizens are experimenting with new rules and practices on their fields, gardens and markets, and within their communities: community-supported agriculture (CSA), agroecology, alternative food networks, food collectives, just to name a few. They work together based on shared social, ecological and democratic values that shape very different narratives about agriculture and food. These are stories centered around ecology, social reciprocity and solidarity, food sovereignty, working with nature, and livelihood security. They are diverse, as they embrace their local embeddedness and identity."
According to Bram van Helvoirt local food systems are pivotal in a transformation towards more healthy, more democratic and more sustainable food: https://lnkd.in/eQAC2_CN

Title: Paving the Way for Food Sustainability Food sustainability is crucial as global populations grow. Sustainable agriculture, plant-based diets, and reducing food waste are key to lessening our environmental impact. Sustainable farming involves eco-friendly practices like crop rotation and conserving water, supporting both ecological balance and local economies. Shifting to plant-based diets can dramatically cut water use, land stress, and greenhouse emissions while improving health and reducing healthcare costs. Additionally, innovative solutions in food storage and consumer education on meal planning can greatly reduce food waste. Together, these strategies ensure a sustainable future, preserving our planet for generations to come. The Farm-to-Table Movement is a significant shift in the culinary landscape, emphasizing the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. This movement has gained momentum in recent years as more people become aware of the benefits of supporting sustainable farming practices. By embracing the Farm-to-Table approach, consumers can enjoy food that is not only delicious but also environmentally friendly. One of the key aspects of the Farm-to-Table Movement is the idea of knowing where your food comes from. By purchasing ingredients from local farmers and producers, consumers can be confident in the quality and freshness of their food. This direct connection between producers and consumers not only supports the local economy but also promotes a sense of community. Furthermore, the Farm-to-Table Movement promotes a more sustainable food system by reducing the carbon footprint associated with transporting food long distances. By sourcing ingredients locally, restaurants and consumers can significantly decrease the environmental impact of their food choices. This shift towards sustainability is crucial in addressing issues such as climate change and food insecurity. In addition to the environmental benefits, embracing the Farm-to-Table Movement can also lead to improved health outcomes. Locally sourced ingredients are often more nutrient-dense and free from harmful chemicals and preservatives. By prioritizing fresh, seasonal produce, individuals can support their overall well-being and enjoy a more diverse and flavorful diet. Overall, the Farm-to-Table Movement represents a culinary revolution that encourages individuals to support local farmers, promote sustainability, and enjoy the vibrant flavors of seasonal ingredients. By participating in this movement, consumers can make a positive impact on both their health and the environment. #FarmToTable #CulinaryRevolution #SupportLocal

🌱✨ The European Green Deal: How Culinu can help 🍽️🌍 The European Commission’s Green Deal represents a unified European effort for the entire continent to become climate-neutral. As part of the European Green Deal, the "Farm to Fork" strategy focuses on making food systems fair, healthy, and environmentally-friendly. These need to be redesigned since they account for nearly one-third of global GHG emissions, consume large amounts of natural resources, and result in negative health impacts. The latter stems from both under- and over-nutrition, and it is precisely here where Culinu can empower operators in the food industry to turn the wheel around. Our technology-driven solutions align seamlessly with the goals of the "Farm to Fork" strategy, offering tools for nutritional transparency and sustainability.
