🔴 #defenseindustry and #defensecontractors, This time has come. Some of us have doubted it, some feared, and we know many business owners who have bet their whole lives on it. The #CMMC model overview, assessment guides, hashing guide, and scoping guidelines have all passed through OMB review (specifically, OIRA), as of yesterday. All have a status of "consistent with change" meaning they passed the review and are getting ready for publication. Only the rule itself remains at OIRA, but I imagine that review will be completed imminently, and all will be released at the same time. More details to come but this is a huge step forward to the ecosystem.

The DoD published its proposed CMMC rule on December 26, 2023. The proposed rule does not make fundamental changes to the CMMC 2.0 framework, but instead codifies the three CMMC levels. It also distinguishes between CMMC Level 2 Self-Assessments and CMMC Level 2 Certification Assessments.   One of the most important aspects of the new proposed rule is that MSPs (Managed Service Providers) who work with government contractors must also be certified at the same CMMC level as those contractors.    We'll be talking more about this in our newsletter article next week.
