Indians have been introduced to tech since early 60s. But still there is a lack of distributing knowledge that can be observed in Non IITs engineering colleges. We are still being taught the process and Gyan that is already solved in half a century ago. This is the talk of quality education that is surely a student in India is getting but in late time. The thing that cannot be generated on time has no meaning. Yes it's mandatory for a student to know the old ways, and that to not repeat the flaws of the past . But skills and time are necessary for our generation. Not only in the tech fields but also 70 % students are still unknown about the practical and future use of their study materials. Hi #connections I was recently going through a video of an influencer, in which the person promoted a course by Abba Dabba School, which was something related to Abba Dabba School of Technology. In the video, he emphasised that this course is good because, from the very first year, students are taught subjects related to coding and AI. Compared to conventional colleges like IIT NIT, which teaches almost all basic subjects in the first year. I am confused on one point, why the curriculum of NITs and IITs considered so bad and why these companies are promoting the point that "Why waste on learning subjects which are not helpful for you, directly hop on the points which will give you a job" To understand this, let's try to understand that Why do these colleges teach almost all subjects in the first year. It is because almost all subjects in this world are interrelated, be it maths and biology, or maths or civil engineering or coding and mechanical engineering. Having a basic understanding of all the subjects helps you understand what exactly is engineering, it does not restrict you by making you study just those subjects that will give you a 20LPA job. Overall it makes you a better engineer. Also, some people do discover what exactly their interest in the field is and do not force themselves to study what they don't like. Please guys do not fall for these evil market campaigns by these companies. If IITs and NITs are following these, then there might be some behind them. Please do not become a frog of a well. The NIRF '24 calculation explained What if I told you, given a choice to take admission in Engineering college amongst Amity Uni., ICT Mumbai, Shiksha 'o' Anusandhan, COEP & IIIT Hyderabad, NIRF 2024 rankings will suggest you exactly opposite of what you are thinking. This anomaly is a classic example of multivariate regression not matching the reality. I will explain how. NIRF has ranked engineering colleges by following : TLR (Teaching, Learning & Resources) is one of the lumped parameter out of 5 such parameters. TLR = SS (20) + FSR (30) + FQE (20) + FRU (30) A. Student Strength including Ph.D. Students: SS B. Faculty-Student Ratio with emphasis on permanent faculty: FSR C. Combined metric for Faculty with PhD (or equivalent) and Experience: FQE D. Financial Resources and Their Utilisation: FRU Explaining point A. • SS = f(NT, NE) × 15 + f(NP) × 5 • The functions f(NT ,NE) and f(Np) are functions to be determined by NIRF. • NT: Total sanctioned approved intake in the institution considering all UG and PG programs of the institution. • NE: Total number of students enrolled in the institution considering all UG and PG Programs of the institution. • Np = Total number of students enrolled for the doctoral program till previous academic year. In reality SS will qualify null hypothesis (discussed in my previous linkedin post, link in comments) because the reputation of an institute is actually independent of number of students enrolled, sanctioned etc. The SS factor will boil down to zero in reality. Similarly there are other weights assumed by NIRF which can go towards zero value. Hence the predictor parameters are giving a false response output.
