#India is taking a bold step toward preparing its youth for the demands of Industry 4.0 with the launch of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (#TVET) Mechatronics Project. Supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the project will focus on establishing a robust vocational training framework for #mechatronics. A specialized curriculum and state-of-the-art equipment will be provided to the Regional Institute of Education in Bhopal, ensuring that students gain hands-on experience and specialized knowledge in critical sectors such as automation, robotics, and precision engineering—key components of Industry 4.0. Aligned with India’s Skill India initiative this project enhances India’s vocational education infrastructure. The collaboration with #SouthKorea, a global leader in technological innovation, will strengthen India’s capacity to deliver education in emerging fields like mechatronics. This collaboration not only addresses India’s need for skilled professionals in cutting-edge industries but also sets the stage for future growth in a globalized, technology-driven world.  Industrial Visit to Kaynes Mechatronics Pvt Ltd – A Real-World Learning Experience! I was also lucky in this regard since Kaynes Mechatronics Pvt Ltd in Mysore visited our module for Christ University, Yeshwantpur Campus. This exposure can be said to have had a great practical opportunity to bridge classroom learning with the mechatronics and automation of real-world applications. During our visit to Kaynes, we could witness some of the newest technologies applied to manufacturing processes, dive deeper into advanced automation techniques, and practically acquire experience on industry standards and best practices. The entire team proved super supportive by ensuring we truly understood all the operational details that are well aligned with our academic areas in Finance, Marketing, and Business Analysis. At the campus, we compiled an in-depth report with key takeaways from the visit and clearly stated its apt relevance to our studies. Murty, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) ➤ We should take some time to reflect on how higher education institutions can prepare both themselves and students for a 'Viksit Bharat' or a developed India. For me, a truly developed India would be a day when I can visit countries like Germany or Japan, pick up a product, and see 'Make in India' on the label. But how do we reach that point? If you look at even smaller countries like Taiwan, they haven't achieved development without a strong focus on manufacturing. Relying solely on certain streams of engineering could lead to a scenario where we need to import civil engineers to build our own infrastructure. It's crucial that we nurture every branch of engineering. ➤ This can only be achieved if our education system allows students the freedom, flexibility, and opportunities for innovation. For instance, at IIT Hyderabad, we offer a B Tech in Engineering Sciences where students can choose subjects across disciplines during their four years. Additionally, each semester we encourage student-driven proposals, known as 'Build projects.' Over the last five years, this initiative has resulted in nearly 200 startups, generating 1,500 crores in revenue and creating more than 1,200 jobs. By providing this kind of flexibility and focusing on holistic development, we can create educational programs that meet the country's needs and lead us towards a 'Viksit Bharat.' #EletsWES #WES2024 #EletsEducation #EducationForFuture
