In a major push to #makeinIndia and one of the largest #aerospace #exportcontracts to #India, Airbus has awarded Dynamatic Technologies Limited the #contract to #manufacture and #assemble #aircraftdoors. This will support the #rampup of #A220programme by creating additional capacity. Under the #agreement, #Dynamatic will #manufacture and #assemble the #cargo, #passenger and #servicedoors along with the #overwing emergency #exitdoors for the #A220, about eight doors per aircraft. The doors contract includes the #manufacturing of detailed #partscomponents, which will create downstream #opportunities for the other #Indiansuppliers.   This is the second #doorscontract awarded by #Airbus to an Indian supplier in less than one year. In 2023,#Airbus gave the contract for the manufacturing of #bulk and #cargodoors of the #A320 to TATA Advanced Systems Limited. Every Airbus #commercialaircraft has #components and #technologies made in India. Currently, #Airbus’ #procurement of #components and #services from India stands at about US$750 million every year, which will rise to US$1.5 billion in the next few years. In a positive development for India's aerospace manufacturing sector, MAHINDRA AEROSTRUCTURES PRIVATE LIMITED (#MASPL) has signed a #multiyear #contract of 100 million to supply approximately 2300 metallic components with Airbus Atlantic. As a part of the #agreement, #MASPL will #manufacture and #deliver #metalliccomponents and #smallassemblies for the entire #Airbus commercial aircraft family, including the #A320 series. MASPL plans to #supply nearly 2,300 varieties of #metalliccomponents to Airbus Atlantic in France from its #manufacturingbase in #India, thus expanding MASPL's existing programmes to directly supply parts to #Airbus facilities in #France and #Germany. Can we call our minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu over-ambitious? Certainly, but that's the current need of the hour, with India already becoming world's third largest #domesticmarket its high time India starts manufacturing #aircraft and export them to the world. The minister is hopeful that with the right #policypush coupled with #governmentsupport will aid domestic players to excel in #manufacturing civil aircraft. “The process of building aircraft in India is a work in progress. The major challenge is how to connect it to the industry and make it viable in the long run. Our #HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) and are the most important players today, and they have been doing it for the #defencesector for a long time. What we are trying to see from the civil aviation side is how we can convert something manufactured for #defence and make in civil aviation capable,” said Naidu. Although there is no set #deadline for this task, and domestic players will always be his first preference, he is open to #JVs and #partnerships with global players in exchange for ideas and technical knowledge sharing. Airbus and Boeing are already setting up their component factories in India and soon there will be a time when a full-fledged #FAL for civil aircraft will be established in India.
